H5 Bird Flu

As hunters, we spend a lot of time in the field, and we encourage everyone to remain vigilant and follow the PIRSA advice on reporting sick birds.

CHASA welcomes opportunities to work alongside agencies such as PIRSA in promoting science-based wildlife management and conservation.

We as hunters are part of the solution, not just recipients of government advice. In line with CHASA's ethos of education, conservation and responsible stewardship, we bring you this information so you, as members of the hunting community, can help safeguard our wildlife, protect biodiversity and ensure the sustainable use of our natural resources for generations to come

🍽 Wild duck L’Orange: a classic worth getting right.

There’s something deeply satisfying about taking a wild bird from field to plate and doing it justice.

👩‍🍳 Keep it simple: don’t overcook it, let it rest, and balance the richness with citrus. Handled well, wild duck delivers flavour that speaks for itself.

NAIDOC Week: recognising connection to Country.

🦘CHASA acknowledges the deep cultural connection First Nations peoples have with land, water and wildlife.

Care for Country, sustainable use, and long-term stewardship are principles practiced for tens of thousands of years and remain relevant today.

This week is an opportunity to recognise that knowledge and reflect on our shared responsibility to look after the landscapes we value.

🦆 Can you believe we're in the last few days of duck season already?

⛺ Across South Australia, many of our members are wrapping up the season: early mornings, time in the field, and plenty of stories to go with it. It’s what keeps us coming back: the places, the people, and the shared experience.

💦 With lots of water up north it was a challenging season. But just for fun, tell us: if you’ve been out this season, what’s one moment that stands out?
