It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Paula Barton.

Paula was part of our Southern Stars family as both a parent and, more recently, a volunteer. With her daughter playing at the club, Paula had recently put her hand up to take on our social media — something she genuinely enjoyed and a way she wanted to give back to the club.

Those who had the privilege of meeting Paula will remember her as an incredibly lovely, kind and caring person. We are deeply saddened by her loss and our thoughts are with her daughter, family, friends and everyone who loved her.

Over the past two weeks, a number of our Southern Stars teams have worn black armbands in Paula’s honour and as a small show of love and support for her family. ❤️

For those wishing to pay their respects, Paula’s funeral service will be held:

With more Southern Stars teams hitting the court this summer and the SUNA and SHNA competitions coming together, teams are naturally going to look a little different this season.

For our players, that can mean new teammates, new coaches, different divisions and new opportunities.

As parents, one of the best things we can do is help our kids navigate those changes with confidence and resilience.
