This weekend we celebrate a special achievement as Niamh O’Reilly pulls on the guernsey for the 50th time.

From the moment she arrived at the club, Niamh has embodied everything that makes our football community special. Her commitment, determination and team-first attitude have made her an invaluable teammate, while her leadership and positivity continue to inspire those around her.

Fifty games is a fantastic milestone and a testament to the hard work, resilience and passion she brings every single week.

A tough afternoon for our Division 2 side, but a dominant performance from our Reserves keeps the finals race well and truly alive.

Division 2 went down to Old Ignatians 1.5 (11) – 10.7 (67). While the scoreboard didn’t fall our way, the effort never dropped, with the group continuing to compete until the final siren.

Division 2 Reserves had a fantastic four-quarter performance saw the Reserves record a convincing 6.6 (42) – 0.1 (1) victory over Adelaide University.

The pressure around the contest and team-first football was outstanding, with another important win keeping us firmly entrenched in the top three.

The Reserves remain in 3rd position, continuing to build towards finals with plenty to play for in the second half of the season.

The Division 2 side sits 7th, but with several rounds remaining, there’s still plenty of opportunity to finish the year strongly. Every game from here is another chance to improve, learn and keep building together.

While the scoreboard didn’t fall our way, there were still plenty of positives to take from the day. The effort, commitment and willingness to compete never dropped, and we’ll take those lessons into another big week on the track.

The ladder remains tight, with our Reserves sitting 4th and our Seniors 7th after nine rounds. With plenty of footy still to be played, both sides have every opportunity to keep pushing towards their season goals.

Tomorrow we celebrate a truly historic milestone as Dani Higgs becomes the first player to reach 100 Senior Women’s games all in the maroon, navy and gold.

From day one, Dani has been a leader, a competitor and a wonderful ambassador for our club. Her commitment, passion and dedication have helped shape the women’s program into what it is today, inspiring those who have worn the jumper alongside her and those who will follow.

To play 100 senior games is a remarkable achievement. To play every one of those games for SMOSH West Lakes and become the first woman in club history to reach the milestone makes it even more special.

Congratulations, Higgsy, on an incredible accomplishment. We are proud to have shared all 100 games with you.

Despite the results, our girls continue to show plenty of fight and determination. With eight rounds completed, our Reserves sit third on the ladder and our Division 2 side remains within striking distance as we head into the second half of the season.
