🤩💙🩵 Congratulations to the amazing Sandy Conroy on being named Surf Lifesaving SA Rookie Assessor of the Year!

This is such a well-deserved recognition of Sandy’s dedication, hard work and passion for assessing, both for West Beach and SLSSA. We are incredibly proud of the commitment she brings to supporting members and contributing to the movement.

This Saturday, we’re getting behind David as he begins his incredible 3,000km journey from Adelaide to Toowoomba by bike, followed by 140km by wheelbarrow! 🚴‍♂️🛞

David is raising awareness and funds for Neuroendocrine Cancer, helping address the significant gap in support for people across South Australia who are navigating this diagnosis.

We’d love to see our West Beach members, families, and community there to cheer him on and show your support!

🩵💙 Thank you to our incredible WBSLSC members Dian Dini Primadani & Leah Hyewon Jang who represented West Beach Surf Life Saving Club at the Sudanese Cultural and Social Society of South Australia evening for the Sudan Mental Health Promotion Project.

This project has been developed by members of the Sudanese Cultural and Social Society of South Australia, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, Preventive Health SA and Multicultural Affairs. Dini spoke on behalf West Beach S.L.S.C.

“When we talk about mental health and wellbeing, we often talk about the big things — getting help when we need it, looking after ourselves, and checking in on the people around us.

But I think wellbeing can also be found in some really simple things: moving your body, being around good people, and feeling like you belong somewhere.

Then there’s volunteering. Surf life saving is built around people giving their time for others. Whether that’s patrolling the beach, helping with training, running events, supporting younger members or doing one of the countless jobs behind the scenes, volunteering gives us a sense of purpose.

Sometimes doing something for somebody else can be just as important for our own wellbeing. It reminds us that we have something to contribute and that we’re part of something bigger than ourselves”.

What a fantastic weekend at Pool Lifesaving Nationals here in Adelaide!

A huge thank you to our coaches, Briny McArthur and Sarah Goodwin, for their time, encouragement and support throughout the competition. And thank you to our amazing officials, Christine Newberry, Brian Burrowes and Rachel Bell, for helping make the event run so smoothly.

A special welcome and thank you to our transfers from other SA clubs including Hannah, Samuel, Zoe, Amelia, Layla, Kitanya and Agatha. We hope you had a fantastic time competing with us and enjoyed being part of the team!

Congratulations to Deb Wareing on an incredible world record! 🌎🏆 And well done to all our competitors, including those selected as State Team representatives. Your hard work, commitment and sportsmanship were fantastic to see.

Yesterday was an absolute cracker of a day for West Beach SLSC at the surflifesavingaustralia Pool Lifesaving Nationals.

West Beach SLSC kicked things off with the 100m and 200m Obstacle events, where our athletes from U12s through to Masters delivered outstanding performances, bringing home multiple medals across the board. Our Obstacle Relay teams also stepped up, earning valuable club points and adding more medals to our tally.

Then came the penultimate event of the day – Line Throw. We had an incredible 26 teams successfully complete the event, with 10 of those teams finishing on the podium. In a moment that will go down in West Beach history, we filled an entire Line Throw heat with West Beach athletes. With all 8 lanes occupied by West Beach competitors, requiring 16 athletes from a single club, it was an incredible display of the depth, strength and growth of our Double Blue program.

To round out the day, Alinta, Oscar, Leila, Toby, Amelia (who has joined us from Semaphore for Nationals) and Assistant Coach Sarah proudly represented South Australia in the Interstate Competition. We are incredibly proud to see our athletes and coaches competing on the national stage.

West Beach SLSC has 53 athletes competing over 3 days.

Congratulations to our West Beach athletes Steve, Ella, Nick, Harry, James and Rosie who competed at 2026 Sharkskin IRB Championships this past week. Our West Beach athletes wore the Aldinga Bay caps during racing at South West Rocks.

This competition was all about gaining invaluable high-level racing experience against the best in the nation. They competed hard, learned tons, and built some incredible club connections. The skills they have gained will benefit our entire IRB racing team and IRB training groups.

Our competitors Steve, Harry, Jess, Rosie and Ella who drove, crewed and were patients did us proud and Harry and Ella also represented SA in the State Team.

Big shout out to our crew on the beach, James and Nick for handing and driving duty boats and Sonya for photos, videos and keeping them all organised.

Huge thanks to Aldinga Bay SLSC for welcoming our West Beach crew, sharing their incredible expertise, and letting us race under their caps to gain invaluable national experience.
