West Lakes Bowling Club

Dear Members,

The Board is providing this update to ensure accurate information is shared across our club and the wider bowls community.

Recently inaccurate rumours have circulated regarding our finances. We state clearly:
The Club is not experiencing financial difficulty.
We are on solid ground and actively planning for a strong future.

Here are the key updates and initiatives for the upcoming 2026/27 season:
Saturday Bowls Teams: For the next Saturday season, we intend to enter teams in Division 1, Division 4, Division 5, and Division 6.
Committee Vacancy: A vacancy remains for the position of Chairperson of Selectors for Saturday Bowls. If you are interested in filling this vital role, please reach out to the Board.
Friday Meals: Our Friday night meals will continue. We encourage members to assist whenever possible to help keep this club tradition running smoothly.
New Club Coach: We have appointed a new Club Coach ! We will host a meet-and-greet session with him in the near future, so keep an eye out for details.
Membership Incentives: To grow our player base, we are introducing new fee structures this season:-
New Members: We are offering $150 membership fee for the 2026/27 season. This applies to brand new bowlers and players transferring from other clubs.
Recruitment Reward: Exisiting members who recruit a new bowler to the Club will receive a $50 discount off their own fees.
Bar Discounts: All new members will be eligible for the bar discounts offered by the Community Club.
The Board is working hard to implement the necessary changes to support our ongoing success. Please share these facts with your friends in the bowling community and help us promote a positive, accurate message about WLBC's future.

On behalf of the committee I would like to thank the following members for what can only be described as an amazing effort in turning up this morning in 9 degree temperature and completing the very formidable task of cleaning up C green .
What a great achievement! Kevin Wood, David Mullan, Duane Curtis, Peter Mc Garry , Trevor Clark, Mark Hinter, Wayne Ward , & Robert Martin . I would also thank those who contacted me and let me know due to the short notice they were unavailable. I personally thank you for your support, for the doubters this is clearly evidence that our Club is alive and well!
If I have overlooked anyone I sincerely apologise but I am working from memory here.

2026 Stew Day Tournament - special thanks to this fantastic group of volunteers who's time and effort contributed significantly in making the day very successful. Well done to your all. 2 members not shown are Jackie Field and Margaret Miller. Sorry if I have missed anyone.

On behalf of the Port Adelaide and West Lakes Bowling Clubs thank you to everyone who participated in the annual Stew Day. A maximum of 32 teams competed on what was a beautiful winters day in the sun. This first time collaboration between the 2 clubs was an outstanding success and we thank all the volunteers from both Clubs who helped make it a fantastic day. Special mention to Jackie Field and her kitchen helpers who laid on a great range of stews & casseroles for lunch. No one was left hungry. Overall winner for the day was a team from Playford with runners up Hawthorn.
We also thank the sponsors of the day in particularly Distinctive Funerals.
