CONGRATULATIONS to Jimmy and Lachlan for achieving their Yudansha (Black Belt) on Saturday. This was a massive achievement. Both men worked to total exhaustion, both mentally and physically with a marathon 4-hour examination of their physical competency combined with written and verbal theory assignments, plus first aid training. Lachlan shared with me that he burned a massive 3700 calories and a max heart rate for 90mins... now that's working!
I can't express how proud of these guys I am. Between them they averaged 10 years of training to get to this point. In the last 3 months, they've been working intensively with me to ensure they were fully across our large curriculum from white to black.
Thank you to those who took the time and made the effort to share in this massive milestone in their martial arts journey. It was important to have you there. Thank you.
Please join me in congratulating Lachlan and Jimmy on their outstanding achievement. CONGRATULATIONS.
I will upload some action shots separately.

Very well said, and spot on!
Inherent in it's lack of appeal to the many is it's value to the few.

Team, if you haven't seen this, please watch it. I've posted it before but it bears repeating, per tonight's class.

Team, here is a PERFECT example of the pre-fight interview that we've been speaking about. On the big guy, notice he's standing square on, with his hands behind his back and his chin way out. He's also avoiding eye contact and appears to feel untouchable. By contrast, the little guy has direct, tracking eye contact showing increasing intensity. His hands come up sometimes but most notable is the slight left shoulder forward signalling setup for a left-right jab-cross(or hook) combination. The push (when he should have punched) from the big guy gives permission to engage and the little guy does so by first double checking distance with the left hand then engaging with the high-right. This is a very typical entry, followed by the obligatory continuous (albeit unskilled) head punches. This is text-book male to male violence entry.
