Yesterday, during our Reserves match, we witnessed a serious incident that resulted in one of our players, Ziggy, being injured.

It was an incredibly confronting and distressing moment for everyone who witnessed it, but amongst it all, we saw an amazing level of care and support.

Our trainers Kat and Lisa were amazing and were on the scene immediately, providing care until SA Ambulance arrived. We cannot thank them enough for the calm, professional and compassionate way they responded. We would also like to sincerely thank the Christies Beach Football Club member who stepped in to assist — your help was greatly appreciated.

Most importantly, we are very relieved to share that Ziggy is out of hospital and, in true Ziggy fashion, even made his way back to the club later that night. He is understandably very sore, but doing okay and surrounded by plenty of support.

To everyone who witnessed what unfolded yesterday, we hope you are okay. It was difficult to see, and we encourage anyone who is struggling with what they witnessed to please reach out and talk to someone.

We officially wrapped up our Under 11s carnival Sunday at Happy Valley Football Oval, and what a fantastic way to finish the season!

It was so great to see the kids out there enjoying themselves, having fun and playing the game they love, FOOTBALL!

A huge thank you to our amazing coaches for everything you’ve done throughout the 2026 season. Your time, effort, encouragement and commitment to the kids is truly appreciated. 👏

Thank you also to the Southern Football League - South Australia for putting on a great carnival atmosphere and helping make the day so enjoyable for everyone.

We’re incredibly proud of our Emus and can’t wait to see what Season 2027 brings! 🖤❤️
