Sydney Marathon runners, don’t let the first 10km fool you. 🥵😱
Those early downhills can feel like free speed, and it’s very easy to get carried away.
But marathon pace is marathon pace. If you bank too much time early, you’ll likely pay for it later. Especially around the 30km mark, when the race gets seriously tough.
Stick to your plan. Stay controlled. Use those downhills as free energy, not free speed.
The goal isn’t to win the first 10km.
It’s to still be going well at 35km. 🏃🏽♂️
Send this to someone running Sydney Marathon this weekend. I want to help make sure they make it to the finish line. 🏁♥️

You don’t have to be a runner to take on 42.2km. ♥️
This September, I’m joining the Indigenous Marathon Foundation’s Every Step Matters Virtual Run. And I’d love you to join me.
You can run, walk, roll or move, and choose your own distance or challenge yourself to the full 42.2km across September.
But what makes this so special to me is that it’s about so much more than kilometres.
Running has given me community, confidence and purpose, and I love that we can use something as simple as putting one foot in front of the other to help create those same opportunities for others.
Every Step Matters supports the Indigenous Marathon Foundation’s five programs, empowering First Nations people through running, health, education and leadership.
And this year, we get to move alongside the Indigenous Marathon Project squad as they work towards the New York City Marathon.
So whether 42.2km sounds exciting, terrifying, or somewhere in between… I’m in. Are you?
Join me this September 👇🏼

You’re not too slow to run.
You’re not too unfit.
You’re not too inexperienced.
And you definitely don’t need to “get faster” before you join a running community.
Because running isn’t just about pace.
Sometimes it’s about walking the hills.
Stopping for a chat.
Having someone beside you when it gets hard.
Laughing when you’re absolutely cooked.
And finishing knowing you showed up when you could’ve stayed home.
The fastest runner in the group isn’t necessarily having the best experience.
Sometimes the best run is simply the one you didn’t do alone. ❤️
