Following our recent AGM we have some exciting leadership changes to announce. Michael Trenwith replaces Matthew Van Der Sommen as President. Michael was a member of the 2025/26 C1 Premiership and has served on the committee and as Vice President over recent years, we look forward to him bringing fresh eyes and enthusiasm to the role. We thank Matthew for all of his tireless work stewarding the club from 3 teams to 5 and overseeing an era of great development and prosperity for the club. A timely change as POSCC also congratulates Matthew and his wife Celeste who recently became parents.

Liam Creaser will take the reins as A grade captain from Louis Dade after serving as his deputy for 3 years. Louis’ captaincy saw the A grade be promoted to A3 for the first time in a decade. He has been appointed into the newly created role of Director of Cricket and will lead the clubs on field performance.

Liam was a school first XI captain and has led the sides bowling attack for several years.

We are hoping these changes will have blues fans ready for an exiting summer of cricket 💙

C1 GRAND FINAL RUN DOWN!

We lost the toss to ROCCCs on an overcast day, which ended up suiting us nicely. Rostrevor got off to a quick and slightly loose start, reaching 19 before Remy Colmer picked up the first wicket. From there, runs and wickets came at a steady rate, with them sitting at 4/104.

That’s when William “Norm” Bourchier took control, ripping through the middle order with an incredible spell of 4 wickets in 5 balls. Alongside Sebastian Barry, Rostrevor quickly collapsed, losing 6/12 in a decisive passage of play. Max Boucher then chipped in with a wicket to wrap things up for them to end up on 116.

Needing 117 to win, we didn’t get off to the best start, finishing day one at 2/18. Morgan Young and Bobby then steadied things early on day two, moving us to 3/47 with us needing 70 to win. Bobby and Nick Stanley continued the job before Bobby was dismissed for a well-made 45, leaving us at 4/99.

A couple of quick wickets saw us slip to 6/102 and made things a bit tense, but Stano and Bouch stayed composed to guide us home, with Bouch hitting the winning runs, ending up on 6/120.

A strong team performance overall, with special mention to Bobby for an outstanding contribution with both bat and ball.

A tale of two games on the weekend unfortunately.

Our LO2 team was valiant against a good Modbury side on the weekend. We know they’ll be back better than ever next year!

Now to our C1 team it was an absolutely demolishing of Modbury, at 2-7 we had every right to be nervous but important knocks from Will Bourchier and Morgan Young helped steady the ship to 9/192, a good total after day 1. Then our bowlers put on a dominant display, spear headed by Remy Colmer with 4/12 (13). They will be playing ROCS at home in the grand final.

On to next week!
