A huge congratulations to Naomi Stevenson and Glyn Wingard, nominated by DBSA and recognised at the Mark Butler Volunteers Award Ceremony last Friday. Thank you to John Holland, Steve Holt and Mary Ann Holt for attending in support of our nominees.
Naomi accepted Glyn’s award in his absence — a fitting moment for two people who have contributed so much. Naomi has been a steady presence at the finish line for most regattas over the past few seasons, and Glyn has long served as our course boat umpire, ensuring fairness and safety on race days.
DBSA is incredibly grateful for the volunteers who make our sport possible.

That’s a wrap on the Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival and what an experience. The fierceness of the premier national teams, stroke rate and just the event. We caught up with Arthur, past ACDC member
Bryan, Mandy and Julie were in the Down Under Dogs mixed crew making finals in ever changing conditions in both the international and combined day racing.
The women’s crew grabbed a bronze in the international women’s 500m and came 5th today in the grand final.
The fisherman’s race in the old traditional boats and the fancy dress parade and race were amazing

Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Festival and it’s day 1 of racing with thunderstorms forecast. Last chance training was very different from bailing out boats to humidity and obstacles.
All warmed up now ready for mixed racing and the course looks different. Going to be a fantastic experience and we have lots of muscle in the boat

As the winter chill sets in DBSA President Peter Button will be taking part in his 10th Vinnies CEO Sleepout. Tonight’s the night, cold, wet and windy the forecast says especially for areas around Adelaide Zoo
Vinnies is Peter’s charity of choice for the great work they do for the homeless and victims of domestic violence.
Over the past nine years Peter’s friends and supporters have helped him raise nearly $36,000 and this year he is aiming to push past $40,000.
Peters fundraising page can be found via the link below, anything you can spare will certainly go towards a great cause.
Peter Button
This June, I’m taking part in the 2026 Vinnies CEO Sleepout to help people facing homelessness – and I’d love your support. For one night, I’ll give up my bed and sleep out on cardboard to gain a small insight into what too many people experience every day. Will you donate to help me reach m...

Seems it was rather wet for training in Adelaide this morning. Three of us enjoyed quite the opposite training at Ryde, Sydney

If you were out early today to train you caught the blue sky. Other than that is was rain and rainbows but it didn’t deter the many paddlers training through winter

Today was a busy day for Dragon Boat SA. Whilst many paddlers braved the cold wind and showers it was a planning day for the future.
The day started with a High Performance Committee meeting looking at aligning our future State Team selection process to that of the AusDBF National Pathway.
Then to the main event where representatives of clubs joined the Board for a strategic planning afternoon.
We look forward to what the future holds for our sport in the State. Thank you everyone for your time
