Come to our Open Day!

Now THIS is a throwback!

How good was Henley Square?!

Henley has some pretty cool history. We love a little trip down memory lane. πŸ’™

100 sleeps till summer!

Who else is counting down?

We can’t wait for those long summer days, patrols back on the beach, Nippers running through the waves, and the club buzzing again. πŸ–οΈπŸŒŠ

There’s just something about summer at Henley. πŸ’™

One of the amazing things about surf lifesaving is the opportunity to learn new skills, keep developing and take part in some high-quality training.

None of that would be possible without the incredible trainers, assessors, Chief Instructors and facilitators who share their time, knowledge and experience with members across all the surf life saving clubs in SA.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the 2026 Member Education Conference and to all those who help keep the standard of training so high.

And a special shout-out to our very own Jax, Sue and Jai β€” with Jax making an appearance right at the start. Honestly, give her a microphone and she’s unstoppable. πŸ˜‚πŸ’™

Special thanks to Port Hughes Fishing Charters for the artistic inspiration.

Proud to support opportunities that help make surf lifesaving a place where everyone feels welcome, included and part of the community. 🌈🌊

If you or someone you know would love to become a lifesaver, check out the Proud Lifesaver Scholarships below. Already a lifesaver? There are also opportunities to build your skills through further training.

If Henley feels like your club, you can nominate Henley SLSC when asked which surf club you would become a member of β€” or nominate another club you feel connected to. πŸ’™

Matteo Simone has been part of Henley for 42 years, after first joining as a Nipper at the age of 12.

He was introduced to the club by his long-time friend and fellow Life Member Greg Fletcher. Matteo remembers getting his SRC, learning surf skills, making friends and spending as much time as he could at the club.

β€œIt was a great place to grow and learn.”

Since then, Matteo has been involved in pretty much every part of club life - patrolling, surf sports, age groups, carnivals, committees and plenty of jobs behind the scenes. He has clocked up more than 700 patrol hours, been a Patrol Captain and travelled to more than 15 Australian Titles.

One of his favourite memories is competing at the 1986 Aussie Titles at Moana as a Cadet, where he made the beach sprint and beach relay finals.

Now, after 42 years, we asked Matteo what he enjoys most about Henley.

β€œEveryone pitched in for our 100 year celebrations in varying ways. That unity and club spirit is what I enjoy the most.”

It’s also something he hopes continues into the future, particularly keeping young members connected as they move from Nippers through to Seniors.

And his advice to anyone thinking about giving Henley a go?

β€œIt’s a great club to be part of with great support and opportunity. I’d also suggest bring a friend, the more the merrier!”

Congratulations Matteo on becoming a Life Member, and thank you for everything you’ve given to Henley over the past 42 years. πŸ’™πŸ’™

We are absolutely bursting with pride in celebrating 100 years of Henley SLSC, and being acknowledged in SA parliament.

It's taken countless volunteer hours to bring us to today.

We'd like to acknowledge all members and supporters who have carried us through thick and thin to 2026.
