Henley South Tennis Club (Henley Hawks) is a member club of the Western District Tennis Association. Tennis Australia “Club of the Year - Metro 2018”

Henley South Tennis Club (also known as the Henley Hawks) is a member club of the Western Districts Tennis Association (WDTA). Our 10 hard courts, all under lights, are surrounded by large grassed areas with lots of shading for spectators and children. Henley South Tennis Club offers the following:

Looking to play a tournament during the school holidays, and the weekend seniors Winter Pennant has a bye?

The Happy Valley Tennis Club is running a O3k / J125 event Friday 10th July to Monday 13th July.

That includes an Open Mens / Womens event and juniors U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 events.

Entries close on Midnight of 3rd July.

We all know that tennis is mostly a head game...here are some tips from our recent psychology presentation.

There are many things that can distract us and affect our performance (people watching you, worrying about winning, pressure etc.) and we can't be focused for the entire time. We need to learn to switch on and off at the right times, and how to refocus when something doesn't go our way.

Develop your own focus plan:

FEEL (react)
FIX (constructively - come back to your body ie. breathing/roll your shoulders/bounce on your toes)
FORGET (switch off moment)
FOCUS (pre-shot routine)

Focusing on the things we can control helps us feel more confident, positive and in control.

Pre-shot routine:
Readying your body
Focusing your mind (have a clear plan)
Execute the shot with a clear mind

You can develop your own pre-shot routine (think Rafa!) for both serving and returning that includes both physical and mental steps. And remember to be a good coach to yourself!
