What an incredible week it has been for Varl, filled with creativity, confidence, and plenty of fun. One of the highlights was watching him make his very own apple pie completely from scratch. From preparing the apples to rolling out the pastry, he took ownership of every step and poured so much care into the process. The end result looked absolutely amazing — golden, delicious, and made with genuine pride. Moments like these remind us how powerful it can be when participants are supported to try new things, build new skills, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.
But the fun didn’t stop there. Varl also enjoyed a fantastic night out at Anastasia the Musical, and he had the best time soaking up the music, the story, and the atmosphere of the theatre. Outings like this are so important — they help build confidence, connection, and joy, and they give our participants the chance to experience the community in meaningful and exciting ways. Seeing Varl smiling, laughing, and fully immersed in the experience was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do.
Our In‑Home Support Team is dedicated to creating moments just like these — moments filled with growth, independence, fun, and genuine human connection. We are incredibly proud of the work our staff do every day to support participants in living rich, fulfilling, and joyful lives.
If you’d like to get out and enjoy some fun outings just like Varl, we’d love to help make it happen. Contact Marley on 08 6186 2040 to chat about how Focus can support you to get out, connect, and enjoy life.

Hi team,
I’m very pleased to share some wonderful news and extend a warm welcome to Tammy, who has joined our Focus Team.
Tammy has stepped into our bookkeeping role, which includes payroll and a range of other essential financial responsibilities that keep our operations running smoothly. This is a critical position in our organisation, and we are fortunate to have someone with her depth of experience and professionalism taking it on.
Tammy brings with her many years of accounting expertise, having worked across a variety of financial environments. Her strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to accuracy will be invaluable as we continue strengthening our internal processes and ensuring our systems support the work we do every day.
In addition to her accounting background, Tammy also has hands-on experience as a Disability Support Worker. This combination of financial capability and frontline understanding is incredibly rare and deeply valuable. It means she not only understands the numbers behind our work, but also the people, the purpose, and the impact. That alignment with our mission will enrich our team and help us continue delivering high‑quality support to the individuals and communities we serve.
Please join me in giving Tammy a warm welcome. We are excited to have her on board, and we look forward to working alongside her as she settles into her role and becomes part of the Focus Team family.
Welcome, Tammy we’re very glad you’re here.

It might look like it’s sunny out there today, but the real magic wasn’t in the weather it was in the people. Our guys spent the day out on the ice, and what unfolded was pure joy. Laughter echoing across the rink, friendly banter, a few wobbly moments, and plenty of support for one another.
These are the moments that build real friendships, the kind that last long after the ice melts and the cold fades.
Well done, team. You brought warmth to a winter’s day and reminded us how good it feels to have fun together.

Today is a special day across Focus Disability Supports as all of our sites come together for a warm and joyful Christmas in July celebration.
It’s one of those moments where the true strength of our community shines, people connecting, laughing, sharing stories, and enjoying the simple pleasure of being together.
Our teams have put so much care into creating a welcoming, festive atmosphere, and the smiles already say it all.
We’re incredibly proud of the spirit our staff and participants bring to days like this.
Photos of this awesome day will follow, capturing the fun, the colour, and the togetherness that make Focus what it is.

After lunch at our Gawler site the room filled with a lovely sense of excitement as participants gathered around the table for our Christmas in July activity. There was plenty of chatter and laughter as everyone settled in, ready to create their very own edible snowy chocolate pinecones. The atmosphere felt warm and collaborative, with participants helping one another and sharing ideas as they went.
To begin, the group worked together to crush Scotch Finger biscuits, enjoying the hands‑on nature of the task. The crushed biscuits were then mixed with butter, cocoa powder and condensed milk, forming a rich, chocolatey dough that quickly became the base of each pinecone. Participants took their time shaping the dough, focusing carefully on getting the right look and feeling proud as their creations started to take form.
Well done to all the Gawler guys, Awesome job.
Once the dough was ready, participants gently pressed Milo cereal pieces into the mixture, building up the pinecone effect layer by layer. It was wonderful to watch everyone experimenting, encouraging each other, and celebrating the small details that made each pinecone unique. To finish, a soft dusting of icing sugar was sprinkled over the top, giving every creation a magical snowy appearance that fit perfectly with the Christmas in July theme.
The activity was clearly enjoyed by all involved. Some participants couldn’t resist tasting their treats straight away, smiling as they sampled the chocolatey results of their hard work. Others chose to carefully package their pinecones to take home, excited to share them with family or enjoy them later. The afternoon felt warm, festive and full of connection, with participants leaving the table happy, proud and satisfied with what they had created together.
