Recent newspaper articles have highlighted a growing concern among experts: many children today are struggling with fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, catching, throwing, balancing and coordination.
These skills provide the foundation for lifelong participation in sport, recreation and healthy physical activity. Without them, children can lose confidence in their abilities and become less likely to stay active as they grow.
This is where sports like gymnastics play such an important role.
Gymnastics is one of the best activities for developing fundamental movement skills. Through climbing, balancing, rolling, jumping, swinging, landing and developing spatial awareness, children build strength, coordination, flexibility, confidence and body control in a fun and supportive environment.
At Tea Tree Gully Gymsports, we see every day how gymnastics helps children:
⭐ Develop coordination and balance
⭐ Build confidence and resilience
⭐ Improve strength and flexibility
⭐ Learn how to move safely and efficiently
⭐ Build a strong foundation for all sports and physical activities
In a world where screens are becoming a bigger part of everyday life, it's more important than ever to encourage children to get moving, explore their capabilities and develop skills that will benefit them for life.
Every cartwheel, jump, handstand and balance is helping build a stronger, healthier future. 💛🤸
