With another successful Expert ANCA League season now behind us and our End-of-Season Presentation Night celebrated, it’s time to recognise and celebrate the award winners of the 2025/26 season.

Player of the Series – 2025/26

We now come to the club’s final and highest individual honour of the season.

The Player of the Series award, along with a $500 cash prize, is presented to the player whose overall performance with the bat, ball, in the field, and as a leader has had the greatest impact throughout the tournament.

This year’s Player of the Series is none other than our captain fantastic, Mr. Govind Karki.

Govind produced one of the finest individual seasons in the competition, leading from the front with an extraordinary 752 runs in 15 innings at an outstanding average of 68 and a phenomenal strike rate of 178. His remarkable season included 2 centuries, with a highest score of 125, and 4 half-centuries, highlighted by a match-winning 66 off just 36 balls in the Grand Final.

His contributions extended well beyond his batting. With the ball, Govind claimed 10 wickets in 10 innings, consistently stepping up to deliver crucial breakthroughs whenever the team needed them most. In the field, he was equally outstanding, taking 13 catches and producing a brilliant direct-hit run-out.

Beyond the statistics, Govind’s leadership, composure, and ability to inspire those around him were instrumental in guiding Southern Knights Cricket Club to another successful season. He led by example with the bat, made valuable contributions with the ball, set high standards in the field, and brought out the best in his teammates throughout the campaign.

Batsman of the Year

We now move on to one of the major individual awards of the season.

The Batsman of the Year award, along with a $200 cash prize, is presented to the player who has been the standout performer with the bat throughout the league campaign.

This year’s award is proudly presented to our captain, Mr. Govind Karki, for his outstanding batting performances throughout the 2025/26 season.

Leading from the front, Govind had a remarkable campaign, scoring an incredible 752 runs in 15 innings at an impressive average of 68 and a phenomenal strike rate of 178. His season included 2 centuries, with a highest score of 125, along with 4 half-centuries.

Bowler of the Year

One of the club’s major individual honours, the Bowler of the Year award, along with a $200 cash prize, is presented to the player who finishes the league season with the most wickets.

This year’s award goes to Mr. Jibanta Sapkota for his exceptional bowling performances throughout the season. In just 11 innings, Jibanta claimed an outstanding 23 wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of just 6.8 runs per over. His consistency, discipline, and ability to deliver breakthroughs at crucial moments made him the standout bowler of the 2025/26 season.

All-Rounder of the Year

We now move on to one of the major awards of the season.

The All-Rounder of the Year award, along with a $150 cash prize, is presented to the player who has made the greatest overall impact with the bat, the ball, and in the field throughout the league season.

This year’s award is proudly presented to Mr. Ankit Shrestha, who enjoyed an exceptional campaign by scoring 173 runs from just 7 innings at an impressive strike rate of 148, claiming 14 wickets at an outstanding economy rate of just over 6, and taking 5 catches in the field.

Ankit’s consistency and ability to influence matches in every aspect of the game made him a deserving recipient of this prestigious award.

50/50 Award of the Year 😂

Every club has that one player who keeps everyone guessing… and this season, we decided it deserved an award!

The 50/50 Award of the Year was inspired by a player who seemed to have only one answer whenever asked about his availability: “50/50.” Whether it was for league matches, training sessions, social events, or even our End-of-Season Presentation Night, his teammates were often left waiting until the last minute to find out if he would be there.

For his unmatched ability to keep everyone in suspense, this year’s 50/50 Award goes to Mr. Roshbin Mishra.

Congratulations, Roshbin, on claiming this one-of-a-kind award! While you’ve certainly earned it this season, we hope this is one award you won’t be defending next year!

This award, along with a $100 cash prize, is presented to the player who recorded the highest combined number of catches, run-outs, and stumpings during the league season.

With an outstanding tally of 12 catches and 3 run-outs, Sangam Gautam was crowned the 2025/26 Best Fielder of the Year.

Electrifying Performance of the Year

This award recognises the most outstanding individual performance with the bat, ball, or in the field during the season.

The 2025/26 Electrifying Performance of the Year, along with a $100 cash prize, goes to Nirazan Pandey for one of the most remarkable all-round performances of the season—an explosive 39 runs from just 10 balls, followed by an incredible 7-wicket haul, including a hat-trick, against Gurkha Gladiators.

A truly unforgettable performance that showcased both power and precision.

This award recognises the most exceptional catch taken during the Expert ANCA League season, and this year’s honour goes to Mr. Sangam Gautam for his incredible diving catch on the boundary that left everyone in awe.
