THURSDAY TEAMS LEAGUE SERIES 2 – ROUND 9 REVIEW

Rick's injury scare, Peter Weber's classy break, and the ladder tightens again!

Round 9 produced another entertaining night of Thursday Teams League action, with every match carrying plenty of significance as the race for finals positions continues.

The biggest concern of the night came in the clash between Over the Hill and Ball Breakers. With the match finely balanced, Uncle Rick was forced to concede his final frame after suffering a back injury. We all wish Rick a speedy recovery and hope to see him back around the tables very soon.

Despite Rick's setback, Over the Hill battled hard to secure a valuable 9–6 victory, with Uncle Derek producing two excellent wins to help his side move into outright second place on the ladder.

The Cue Fathers enjoyed the bye but remain clear competition leaders on 11 points. Behind them, the race for the remaining finals positions couldn't be tighter, with just a handful of points separating second through to seventh.

WHAM! produced one of their best performances of the season, defeating Pot Blacks 11–3. Michael Kalaba and George Hagidimitriou were outstanding, giving their side a much-needed confidence boost.

In another thriller, Challengers edged Double Trouble 8–7. Stuart Carter and Michael Watson shared the honours for the Challengers, while Matt Mielke fought back strongly with an important win for Double Trouble. The shootout once again proved decisive.

The defending champions DMW Demons returned to the winners' list with an 8–6 victory over Clean Slate. Rex Cole and Adam Edwards combined well to get the Demons back on track, while Peter Weber impressed with another quality performance for Clean Slate.

The highest break of the evening belonged to Peter Weber, whose excellent 25 break was the standout contribution on a night where every frame mattered.

With just a few rounds remaining, the ladder is taking shape, but there is still plenty to play for. Every point is becoming crucial as teams fight for a place in the finals, and if Round 9 was any indication, we're in for a thrilling finish to the season.

🗣️ Ronnie O'Sullivan continues to praise Chinese youngster Chang Bingyu, who will be appearing in the second ranking event semi-final of his career tomorrow...against Ronnie!

PRESSURE COOKER SNOOKER DELIVERS AGAIN!

Even with several matches postponed, Round 6 produced another outstanding night of Championship League Snooker, proving once again why this competition has become one of the highlights of the SnookerSA calendar.

Firstly, we wish Ian Anderson a speedy recovery after his recent hospital stay. We look forward to seeing Ian back around the tables as soon as he's feeling well.

The performance of the night belonged to Flynn Davison.

After Keishan Fox made headlines last week by defeating defending champion Uncle Rick, Flynn responded in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 whitewash. It was a real statement victory from last season's runner-up and a reminder that Flynn is once again a genuine title contender.

Another player quietly going about his business is Fermin So. His 4-1 win over Matt Mielke sees him continue his climb up the ladder, and with his consistent scoring and heavy break-building, he's becoming one of the most dangerous players in the competition.

Congratulations also go to Vinay Singh, who recorded his first victory of the season with an impressive 4-1 win over Allan Murphy. Vinay has been pushing some of the league's best players all season, and it was great to see his persistence rewarded.

One of the closest contests of the night saw Shane Murphy edge out Russell Barker 3-2. Russell was desperately unlucky not to come away with his first win, pushing the match all the way before falling just short in another nail-biting finish.

Although a few matches were postponed, there was certainly no shortage of quality snooker. Every frame is being played under pressure as players fight to secure a place in the Top 8 before the competition splits into the Major and Minor Championships.

The ladder is tightening, the standard continues to rise, and every week new contenders emerge.

This Championship League has become a true pressure cooker. Every frame matters. Every match tells a story. And the race for the Top 8 is only getting hotter.
