Big Weekend for the Leaders of The MatLab Grappling Academy

September 5 — Jackie E-Vee Hughes steps onto the mat at Artemis Grappling Challenge to showcase her developing skills and support this incredibley important emerging event whi are doing great things for the entire Grappling Community.

September 6 — Nick Hughes will be sharing his knowledge running a Single Butterfly Half Guard Attack Seminar for the incredible people at bjjfactorygeelong

Competition Is an Individual Journey... But a Team Pursuit.

At The MatLab Grappling Academy, competition starts long before the first match begins, and the benefit extends well past the day itself.

It starts with being accountable, training with purpose, testing ourselves together and helping each other improve. That's always the first point of focus, competition or not.

Whilst we may not always field the biggest team, for every athlete who chooses to compete, our goals are always clear;

*Prepare as thoroughly as possible.

*Support wholeheartedly on the day.

*Provivde pathways to progression when the competition is over.

Because the goal isn't simply to win matches,
It's to become better grapplers, and that's something we pursue together.

We never force any student to compete, nor do we exclude any competitions from the list of available options.

The choice always comes down to the individual as to when are where they would like to compete, and how that competition best serves their progress.

Once that is understood and communicated, we begin the process of Attaining that goal whilst adhering to standards of safety and practicality that ensure a positive experience regardless of win or loss.
