That is not the point ✋🏻

The point is this, you cannot know enough about a nine-year-old to make fixed judgments about their future.

Kane played for Ridgeway Rovers, joined Arsenal as a child, was released, returned to play with Ridgeway Rovers, and then continued his journey through Watford and Tottenham.

At Arsenal, he was considered not athletic enough.

Years later, he became one of the finest goal scorers of his generation.

What happened?

• Time
• Physical development
• Confidence
• Maturity
• Opportunity
• Persistence

Children do not grow at the same rate, one may mature early, whilst another may need longer physically.

Others may still be building confidence, while some may simply need the right guidance and support to stay in the game long enough to develop.

That is why fixed judgments at young ages are so dangerous.

The role of youth sport is so important.

It should be to keep the pathway open, enjoy the game and only time will tell.
