We're also busy putting together our annual major fundraising raffle, and we need your help!

Last year's raffle featured over $4,000 worth of incredible prizes, thanks to the generosity of our amazing community and local businesses. We'd love to make this year's raffle even bigger and better.

Training Update

Well... it looks like most of us were keen for a week off!

With only a handful of teams planning to train during this first week of school holidays, we've made the decision to cancel all training this week.

This gives our amazing committee, volunteers, coaches, and our grounds a well-earned chance to recharge before we head into the final part of the season.

We'll be back to our normal training schedule next week, so enjoy the school holidays, have some fun, and we'll see you all back with your boots on, ready to go!

The Rams are officially part of Parliamentary history!

We are incredibly proud to share that on Tuesday, 23 June, our local Member of Parliament, Clayton Barr MP, Member for Cessnock, formally acknowledged Abermain Rams Football Club in Parliament following our recent recognition as a finalist in the NSW Community Sport Awards.

Those words are now part of the official Parliamentary record – a moment our club will always be able to look back on with pride.

To have the work of our volunteers, players, coaches, committee members, families and supporters recognised at this level is truly humbling. Every training session, every game day, every fundraiser, every working bee, and every hour volunteered has helped build the club we are today.

This recognition isn't just for our committee – it belongs to every person who has worn the Rams colours, cheered from the sidelines, volunteered their time, or supported our club over the years.

Thank you, Clayton, for recognising the impact community sport has in bringing people together and creating opportunities for local families.

What an incredible honour for our little club.

Before you shout at the referee...

Remember this.

Many grassroots referees are teenagers.

Some are officiating players, coaches and parents who are twice their age.

They don't have VAR.
They don't have assistants.
They don't get every decision right.

Neither would most of us.

Yet they still turn up every weekend, pull on the shirt and step onto the pitch.

Without referees, there is no game.

So the next time a decision goes against your team, ask yourself:

Would you be willing to do their job?

⚽ Respect costs nothing.

NSW Community Sport Awards 2026 – Community Club of the Year Finalist

Last night, our dedicated President and Secretary had the privilege of representing the Abermain Rams at the 2026 NSW Community Sport Awards, where we were honoured to be named a finalist for NSW Community Club of the Year.

While we didn't take home the trophy, being recognised as one of the state's finalists is an incredible achievement for our small community club—and one that we are immensely proud of.

The award recognised the work our club has done to strengthen participation and inclusion through the growth of female football, volunteer development, facility improvements, and strong community partnerships that continue to create a safe, welcoming and sustainable environment for players, coaches, officials and families.
But this recognition doesn't belong to our committee alone.

This award belongs to every volunteer who cooks a BBQ, works in the canteen, coaches a team, manages a team, marks fields, washes jerseys, helps at working bees, serves on the committee, or simply steps in whenever an extra pair of hands is needed.

This finalist recognition is a reflection of everything you do.

Community clubs don't succeed because of facilities or awards—they succeed because of people who genuinely care about creating opportunities for others.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered with the Rams, whether it's been for years or just one hour this season. Your contribution matters, and this recognition is a reflection of everything you've helped build.

We may not have brought home the trophy, but we'll proudly take home the knowledge that what we're building together is being recognised across New South Wales.

Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners, and thank you to the award organisers for recognising the importance of community sport.
