What can I say… WOW! What a day! ❤️🤍❤️🤍
A huge thank you to everyone who turned up yesterday, not only for us as a club, but for your kids. We had an amazing day, and judging by the smiles, laughs and very colourful faces 😂, the kids had a pretty great time too!
And that’s what it’s all about, right? ❤️
I’m sure there are a few little creases we can iron out for next time 😂, but all in all, we think the day went pretty bloody well!
We are incredibly proud of how the kids conducted themselves today. They were respectful, well behaved and embraced everything we had planned. A massive thank you to all the parents who stepped in to help throughout the day, we appreciate you more than you know.
A very special thank you to my U16-1 boys, Harry and Zavier, and my own boys Izaiah and Seth, for their incredible fairy floss skills! 😂 You gave up your Saturday to come down, volunteer for your club, entertain the kids and help your mum/footy mum.
That means more than you probably realise. ❤️
To the Sneddon family, Penny, Scott and Quinn, and Mitch Moy, you guys are absolute legends and surely the best face painters in the Hunter Valley! 😂🎨 Thank you for giving up your Saturday to help make the day special for the kids. We appreciate you so much. 🙏🏽
Beau and Nathan Atkinson, our sales reps, you guys are the best! You absolutely killed it under that gazebo😂. Thank you for helping raise money that goes straight back into our club and allows us to put on events like this for our kids.
Trina, our go-to girl! Thank you for jumping in whenever you were needed and just getting things done. ❤️
Emma Radley, our queen of the canteen 👑 what a massive effort! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU. We genuinely could not have done it without you.
And our BBQ bandits, Linda, Rodney, Matt and Wade 🌭🔥 thank you for giving up your time and making sure we could feed everyone. We appreciate you!
And because the work doesn’t stop when the last kid goes home…
After everyone had left, our Executive Committee, along with Linda, Emma, Matt, Wade, Troy, Beau and Nathan Atkinson, all stayed behind to clean up, organise, count stock, empty the meeting room and canteen, make trips to the storage shed… And then do some more cleaning. 😂
That is the part people don’t always see.
It takes a village to run a club, and today was a perfect example of what can happen when people come together and simply get stuck in.
To our amazing Executive Committee, when we first met as a committee this year, we had one big goal, to work on our club culture.
Things don’t change overnight, and we still have plenty to work on, but we can genuinely see changes and progress. We will continue to build on that, because we believe our club can only get better when we work together, support one another and keep putting our kids at the centre of everything we do. ❤️
And just like that…
We have officially handed the field back. 🏉
For our juniors, that’s a wrap on the 2026 season. ❤️
To anyone I’ve missed, please know it was never intentional and thank you.
To every parent who helped, donated their time, or lent a hand… THANK YOU.
Footy is a community sport, and without the community, we don’t have a club.
So from all of us at West Maitland JRL, thank you for showing up, thank you for getting involved, and thank you for helping us create memories for our kids.
