Its always nice to finish a long time project 💪 .
This time it was a great one again ...what a awsome steep creek adventure
🥳🙌
The first time we took an eye on the Hagenbach/ Goldaugraben was in 2011/2012.
There we just saw the double drop in the middle of the section and could not really scout the following gorges very well from top.
After that, we came back in 2017, there was the big doubledrop blocked and too much water to check the rest below.
Only again in Autumn 2025, Mo took a heart and checked the run nearly from source to bottom and said that this river could be great ( at least if you like steep creeks, hiking, portaging and expoloring , like we do 🤪🤣 )
So in April 2026 Robert Machacek, Bernard KayakObama and Moritz Merkl finally tried and hiked up to the bottom of the big 30+m waterfall at the source, hoping that the rest of the snow which was on top of the mountains would melt during this 25°C spring day.
But we soon faced reality and realised that the way under minimum level of water even dropped during we hiked in.
So we pretty much hiked, pushed, slided and pulled the boats all the way down. 😵💫
Good thing was.. that we could cut out the vertical tree in the pool of the ( about total 10-15 m ) double drop and so made it runable.
And we tried to get through the following gorge at river level, and explored it without water.. so that we know now that its totally unrunable , and its blocked by hundreds of trees.
Last week after heavy rain in the area, Mo and Robert decided to do another try, which was awesome🤩
After all the waterlevel "fails" this season... this felt like a dream 😅
All in all it was a great day of paddling with some steep rapids.
Description on river.guide will follow in near future.
But all in all the river will only be runable with really high water after days of rain, and quite hard to catch
