➡️If you want help with navigating this, the Pole Dancer Performer Summit is happening soon. Comment SUMMIT to get all the deets.

STORYTIME: The last time I competed, I ended up getting a cold + my period the day before I was supposed to step on stage. I was coaching that weekend as well meaning my focus wasn’t fully on myself.

I also ended up picking the same song (and a very similar theme) of the competitor who went right before me. We had never met, trained in different states/studios, and had no idea until it was time to step on stage. Seriously, what are the chances?!

When I tell you I got in my head, oh man…I got in my head! BUT, the show must go on and I had put too much work into this piece to back down now.

The piece didn’t go perfectly, but I did my best. And I ended up placing 3rd in the competition.

Moral of the story, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been performing or competing, some things are just out of your control. You just have to roll with the punches some days…and honestly, we are our own worst critics. I promise you the crowd doesn’t notice like you think they do😉

It’s extremely valuable to understand how anatomy impacts you or your students ability to perform certain movements.

(Please enjoy this BTS training with Emily Rausch | Injury Rehab for Pole Dancers and Tim Chan 😂)

If you look closely in some of my videos, you’ll notice that I had to adjust my hands to allow my foot to reach.

In other videos, you’ll see me adjust my hips so my hand doesn’t get smothered.

Either way, adjustments need to happen because it takes a lot for me to reeeeeaaaacccchhhhh!!

Understanding the WHY will make understanding the HOW feel more doable. And the more we understand this, the more we can adjust and adapt so our goals don’t feel impossible. And that’s why I’m bringing back the “Short Limb Series” weekly.

Next up…Allegra! (You’ll see it by the end of the week at some point😜)

Is this something you take into consideration when teaching or learning a movement? How do you adapt?

Also, isn’t Erin McNalley pole space beautiful! I’m in love with this lighting✨

Two entry’s:
◾️Jasmine
◾️Flatline

Focuses:
◾️Don’t reach so high with the top arm
◾️Drop the hips
◾️Keep chest upright

Reminder, every body and pole dancer is different. These are general cues based on shorter limbs - this NOT a superman tutorial. Please do your conditioning/practice to prepare your body based on your own individual needs.
