CrossFit Games — Day 3 recap (Saturday) ⚡
We kicked off Saturday with the 500m sprint (IE12). After a pretty restful night — and some serious lactate in my legs — I was massively motivated to go collect points again.
Plyo warm-up, a few fast turns dialed in, and straight to the start line — right in front of the arena on Obama Boulevard. Unreal location. I was in the last heat, so I got to watch the women and the men ahead of me first. We stood at the line and couldn’t actually see the finish. During the briefing I got it into my head that I had to run all the way to the very end… so the finish came a little sooner than expected. 17th.
Right after came the workout (IE13): triple unders, GHD wall ball shots, bar muscle-ups and pig flip. I love a good chipper — this one was so much fun. The wall ball shots especially: go test them, seriously cool movement. Three pig flips at the end and boom — 8th! I’ll take that. 🔥
I already posted a Reel from the sn**ch ladder (IE14) — all really clean reps, and 120kg felt genuinely light off the floor. The atmosphere in the arena was magic. We all stood under the rack “Zeus” and got called up when it was our turn — just an incredible feeling. Sadly missed the final by under a second! ⏱️
EchoThruster (IE15) & Jump Pull Yoke (IE16) 🥵
The thruster warm-up was tough — my legs were so, so tired and full of soreness — but in the workout it clicked. Bike at 77 cadence and I split the thrusters really conservatively, because I had a lot of respect for the workout coming immediately after. 14th. Then: 20 box jump overs, sled pull & yoke. Super cool build in the arena — I battled straight up with in the lane right next to me, then managed to open a gap on the yoke. 8th to close out the day. Top! 👊

CrossFit Games — Day 2 recap (events 9/10/11) 🎯
So, next up: the 3D throw — throwing the Rogue Fitness bag sideways left, sideways right, and backwards. We’d even practiced the technique in the parking lot that morning and it felt dialed in. But we only got one throw each — and because I botched the second sideways throw, I landed in 19th and gave away points. Dumb. 😤
But in a way that was a fun event / Jeffrey Adler and I were looking at each other on the floor, saying: „I‘m not even nervous, thats a strange feeling on the floor“.
Event 10 was the hardest event of the week for me: 4 rounds of 660m run and 10 hang squat cleans @ 225lbs. My running has gotten better — but the squat cleans flooded my legs with so much lactate that I got slower every single round. A clear sign I need to keep working on my running capacity, and that I want to come into next season lighter.
I was actually looking forward to the gymnastics event (11) — all movements I’m good at. Then I caught two no-reps on the pirouette, my shoulders were too cooked, and I failed twice on the parallettes. Rookie mistakes. 22nd.
Whatever. Next event: The Hopper 2026, programmed by Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr — on paper a top event for me. I decided to go with no chalk grips… unfortunately the wrong call. Zero grip in a pure grip workout — felt like I was doing the toes-to-bar with no grips at all. 24th. Oops.. time to get my head together for day 3
A pretty sobering day, apart from that first event. Cross it off. 0:0 mentality. Tomorrow it’s on. 💥
Day 2 done.

CrossFit Games Day 2 - Event 8 „Climbing Snail 🐌“
First day in the big arena. Slept so much better last night. Still nervous though — the laning, the warm-up… now the CrossFit Games really begin.
First event: snail, rope climbs and toes to bar. Everything ran smoothly. Early on I was a little scared my biceps would give out after all those pull-ups — but I took the rope climbs slow enough, and now I know for next time: I can push a bit harder. 💪
My snail… yeah, I kept having to straighten my Snail on the way to the finish line 😅 — but I’ll take 13th in a rope climb workout at my bodyweight.
Event 8 done. 🫱🏻🫲🏼
Up next: the 3D throw. Nobody has ever done this in a CrossFit event before. We were curious, but not too nervous…

Day 1 recap (part 2) 🐂
Straight onto the bus after Event 1.
30 minutes to the legendary ranch of Dave Castro — and I’m someone who loves being out in nature, so seeing cattle everywhere, dogs, all the stuff you only know from the stories… it was surreal. No time to take any of it in though. Already on the bus they told us: you start 10 minutes after arrival. So — quick sugar in, running shoes on, and boom, straight to the start line.
Everyone sprinted off and I already knew this 7.2km run was going to be really, really rough. And it was. Then straight back on the bus after a quick ice bath, than warm up for the CrossFit Total. Back squat, strict press and deadlift 1RM on tired legs — but it went great: three top-10 scores in brutal heat, after rain had actually been forecast on the ranch.
Then a short break. Ice bath, sushi, and about 30 minutes of sleep right before the 20-loop bike event — something I normally can’t do at all. And then, through pure teamwork and whatever watts were left in my legs, I pulled in my first ever CrossFit Games event win. 🥇
No time for an ice bath after — the briefing for the swim event was already running. So straight from the interview, across from one side of the Morgan Hill sports complex to the pool, to close out the day in the water. All the athletes stood together for the briefing, they demoed backstroke, we got nervous for a second — but we were allowed to swim normally. So one more proper triceps and shoulder warm-up with Michael Allen tube at the pool edge, and off we went.
After the event I turned to my crew and said: “So how was the vendor village?” I hadn’t noticed a single thing all day — I genuinely thought we’d been inside the SAP Arena the whole time. 😅 CrossFit Games Day 1, 7 events, barely any sleep — it makes you a different kind of brain-dead.
Next day: rest day. Let’s go. 🔥

The Hopper — Event 1 recap 🔋
Tuesday into Wednesday I barely slept. Nerves. You lie there running every scenario in your head, knowing the alarm is coming way too soon.
0600am, we were on the bus to the Morgan Hill sports complex from SAP Center. And then — the location just hit different. Outdoor, sun coming up, an unreal crowd, and my crew right there with me. Everything I’d pictured, but better.
We got going pretty quickly. And here’s the thing I forget every single time until it happens: the second that 10-second timer on the first workout starts counting down, every ounce of nervousness is just… gone. In that moment I remember exactly why I do all of this.
7th place in the second heat. In a field this insanely stacked, that’s a top way to open. But there was no time to celebrate — straight back on the bus for Event 2.
Recap coming soon. 👊
