The Dubai Exiles RFC are delighted to confirm that will continue as Head Coach of the Dubai Exiles Premiership squad for a second season as the Club embarks on its historic 60th anniversary year.

A true Exiles legend, DuRandt has been at the heart of the club’s success both on and off the field for over a decade. As a player, captain, coach and mentor, he has consistently demonstrated the values, commitment and passion that define the Dubai Exiles.

DuRandt brings a wealth of international playing and coaching experience to the role. Originally from South Africa, he enjoyed a distinguished professional playing career, representing Griquas in the Currie Cup and spending almost a decade competing in Italy’s top division with Frascati RFC, Gran Parma and L’Aquila. His performances earned selection for Italy ‘A’, where he represented the national side in the Churchill Cup against Canada in 2011.

Since arriving in Dubai, DuRandt has enjoyed remarkable success with both the Exiles and UAE Rugby. As a player, he helped the Exiles secure multiple UAE Premiership, West Asia Premiership and Dubai 7s titles, while also captaining the UAE National Team on the international stage.

Away from the playing field, DuRandt has established himself as one of the region’s leading coaches. Within the Exiles, he has guided both the U16s and U18s to league titles and tournament success, developing countless young players who have progressed through the club’s pathway into senior rugby. His impact on player development continues through his role as Rugby Development Officer at Dubai English Speaking College.

On the international stage, DuRandt has played a key role in the continued rise of UAE Rugby. As a coach in the UAE 7s programme, he has helped the national team to multiple Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy titles and remains an integral part of the UAE senior national team coaching set-up.

We are delighted to announce Andrea as the new Director of Netball at Dubai Exiles 🔴⚫🏐

Andrea has been part of the Exiles coaching team since May 2021, playing an important role in the growth and development of the programme during a period that has seen the club grow into the thriving community it is today.

Having worked closely with players, families and coaches over the past four years, Andrea brings a deep understanding of the club, its culture and its ambitions for the future.

Speaking on her appointment, Andrea said:

I am incredibly proud and excited to be announced as the new Director of Netball at Dubai Exiles.

I am excited to lead the next phase of this journey, continuing to build on the strong foundations already in place.

My passion remains the same. To create a clear and inspiring pathway for players aged 8 and above, ensuring every athlete has the opportunity to develop, progress and reach their full potential within the sport.”

We are excited for the future of Exiles Netball under Andrea’s leadership and look forward to continuing to grow opportunities for players across all age groups.

Exiles had the pleasure of attending a wonderful quiz evening last night to support Clare’s community.

But as we answered the questions, a thought came to mind: This is not Claire’s fight. This is OUR fight.

Claire, David and their beautiful family are one of our own. They are part of the fabric of the Dubai Exiles. When one of our family is hurting, we all hurt. When one of us falls, we don’t stand back and watch, we stand shoulder to shoulder until they’re back on their feet.

Reading Claire’s story in Gulf News, it is both heartbreaking and inspiring. It reminds us that the greatest strength we have isn’t found on a rugby pitch, it’s found in the people standing beside us when life delivers its toughest battles.

Today, we’re asking every Exile, past and present, players, parents, coaches, volunteers, supporters and friends, to answer the call.

This isn’t about charity. It’s about family.

Claire is fighting cancer with incredible courage, but she should never have to fight it alone. As Exiles, we pride ourselves on being there for one another, not only in victory but in adversity. This is one of those moments that defines who we are.

Let’s show Claire, David, Alfie, Tommy and Edi what One Team. One Family. One Exile. truly means.
