Day 1 of our Live Tabla Sessions for the Vocational Grades! ✨

An inspiring beginning to this special series as Janhavi Thorat led our Vocational students through an immersive exploration of rhythm and movement. Vocational 1 delved into the nuances of Jhaptaal, while Vocational 2 progressed into the depth and sophistication of Ektaal.

With Ahmed accompanying on the live tabla, every composition came alive, giving students the invaluable experience of dancing with a live percussionist—sharpening their sense of laya, musicality, confidence, and command over the taal.

Focused, progressive, and deeply engaging, the session reflected the essence of true Kathak training.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who worked behind the scenes to make these sessions possible.

And our deepest gratitude to Dr. Pali Chandra, whose vision, creativity, and unwavering inspiration continue to shape every step of our journey. It is through her guidance that such meaningful learning experiences become possible.

UP Mahotsav, held on 25 January at B-Hub, was a celebration that brought alive the history, culture, and traditions of Uttar Pradesh. Our artists added grace and depth to the occasion, making it truly memorable for the audience. Poets, journalists, writers, dancers, musicians, and art enthusiasts from diverse fields gathered to witness the performances. Through Thumri, Tarana, and a soulful Bandish on rain, the audience was gently wrapped in a timeless, traditional tapestry of art.

This year marks the 16th edition of Dancing Divas and the 19th year of Gurukul’s presence in Dubai.
And who better to honour on such a momentous occasion than Nawab Wajid Ali Shah — a visionary whose passion and artistry have left an indelible mark on Kathak.
Our 2025 production celebrates the life and times of this extraordinary personality through the timeless language of dance.
