Youth Rugby Welcome to the Midi Rugby U9 Squad! Welcome to the Dubai Hurricanes Midi Rugby U9 squad.
This important age group sees a transition for the player from the Tag format to the Mini format and the introduction of tackling and positions on the field. Key focuses for this year are given to :
fitness and development of core strength
developing the player’s confidence when going into contact
learning how to present the ball in the tackle tagging
understanding the rules of the game

The holy month of Ramadan provides us the opportunity to reflect and reach out to those less fortunate than ourselves.
Dubai Hurricanes had a chance to do this on Friday with the girls and mothers of both our Netball and Rugby sections going to a female labour camp and running fun games with the female labourers and their children. After this, we distributed food kindly donated by Alpha Catering based in Sharjah, part of the dnata group of companies that sponsor our Netball and Rugby Academies.

A great way to celebrate the season of giving - In Fiji, some kids cannot afford their own rugby kit & are forced to use a plastic bottle wrapped in newspaper & tape as a rugby ball. We decided this year we would give away our surplus kit to the schools in the home country of one of our senior mens team members. We picked from a hat, and Fijian Pio was selected. Pio travelled to Fiji,14,070 kms to personally hand out the kit to the grateful recipients. You can see from the images how thrilled they are to have our kit.
They have been distributed to the mainland (Viti Levu) and 3 schools in the second largest island (Vanua Levu). The 15's set and 7's set are for a village rugby club - Naruwai Rugby Club. The names of the chosen schools are below & it just shows it’s the little things that count. Who thinks we should do this every year? !

Digital membership card launching on 1st May! Keep an eye out for the email from cardskipper.com where you will be kept updated with club news, events & info! This will give members the chance to use deals on the app over the summer and renew your membership for next season in July/August & then allow you to collect the kit by presenting your digital card in September.
