Matiulla kept telling himself the same thing most expats do:

“I’ll start when things calm down.”

But life in the Gulf doesn’t calm down.

Long days. Constant travel. Work dinners. Catered canteens. Family responsibilities. Exhausted by the time you get home, with your health sitting at the bottom of the priority list.

And before you know it?
The weight creeps up.
Your energy drops.
You stop recognising the version of yourself you know you could be.

That’s exactly where Matiulla was.

Busy dad. Based in Saudi. Literally building cities for a living. Non-stop schedule. Eating from a catered canteen every day. No time to meal prep. No time to overthink calories. Just survival mode.

He thought he needed the “perfect time” to start.

Instead, we built a plan around the life he already had.

The “200 calories” that turn into 20lbs.

One beer. One biscuit. A handful of Haribo. On their own?

Meet Luke.

A busy dentist working long hours, seeing patients all day, and somehow finding time to study for dental exams on top of it all.

The reality?

There was no chance of following a “perfect” fitness plan.

No meal prep seven days a week.
No two-hour gym sessions.
No living like a fitness influencer.

Because that’s not real life.

Instead, we focused on the fundamentals.

✅ Increased his protein intake
✅ Started taking creatine
✅ Committed to 3-4 gym sessions per week
✅ Put a clear nutrition structure in place
✅ Stopped mindlessly raiding the snacks at work

Nothing revolutionary.

Just the right habits, repeated consistently.

And that’s where the magic happened.

Luke has lost body fat, built muscle, and gained a huge amount of confidence along the way.

The best part?

He hasn’t felt like he’s been “on a diet.”

He’s enjoyed the process, built sustainable habits, and created a routine that fits around a demanding career and study schedule.

One of the last few weeks in the UAE before we fly 🇦🇪

This week had a bit of everything…

🏋️ Another fitness competition (last one for a long while)
🔥 Which means… the 2-week shred is officially ON
🧖 Recovery sessions at VOGO Sauna
🐶 Adventures with Teddy, who’s slowly becoming the main character of this account
🌅 Unreal sunsets reminding me why I love living here
📍A trip to ADNEC (indoor running only)
🎾 Wimbledon starts TODAY, so productivity is expected to hit an all-time low. If there’s tennis on, I’ll be watching it.

The World Cup is underway too, with England already out of the group stage. It’s Definitely coming home 🏆 🙃

These next couple of weeks feel a little different. It’s that strange time of year where you’re trying to survive the heat and work but also squeeze every last drop out of life here before heading home for summer.

A few more beach days.
A few more pool sessions.
A few more business lunches than strictly necessary.

Then it’s time for airports, family and adventures.

Until then… we train, recover, work, enjoy the sunsets, and keep ticking the boxes.

Life’s busy. Life’s good. Yalla habibis🇦🇪✌️

If your flight is in a few weeks, save this 🛫

You can’t transform your body in 4 weeks. But you CAN make a visible difference.

This is the 4-week pre-holiday body push I give clients flying home in summer:

Week 1: 500 cal deficit, 4x training, NO alcohol
Week 2: Trust the changes (they’re starting)

Week 4: Water UP, sodium DOWN

Then on holiday, eat, drink, enjoy. You did the work. But don’t take the p**s, come home 5kg heavier and full of guilt.
