American Magic buying the Danish SailGP team Rockwool Racing is a big deal for the sport. I'm here in Auckland getting ready to report on what looks set to be one of the sternest tests yet for the SailGP competitors, with 13 F50s jockeying for position on an extremely tight race course in front of more than 10,000 spectators in the stadium. The new American/ Danish alliance will be straight into the fire this weekend. End of Boom and Bust for the America's Cup?
For decades the America’s Cup has lurched from feverish activity during each cycle to barren stretches of silence afterwards. The new Protocol aims to change that by establishing the America’s Cup Partnership (ACP) — a centralised governing body run by representatives from all competing teams and headed by an independent leader. That single shift could be transformational. Thanks to Justin Chisholm for inviting me to chat with him and Sailing World's Dave Reed about possibly the most revolutionary change that we've ever seen in the America's Cup.

My race report from a 'Snakes & Ladders' day of SailGP competition in Germany. The British dominated the day but came off worst in the three-boat final.
