His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has told Zimbabwean President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa that the long-standing historical and cultural ties linking communities across Southern Africa should not be used as a justification for disregarding South Africa’s immigration laws. The King stressed that while regional relationships are important, they must exist alongside respect for the country’s legal framework.
King Misuzulu also rejected claims that South Africans are inherently xenophobic, emphasizing that the country’s concerns are centred on the enforcement of immigration laws rather than hostility toward foreign nationals. His remarks come amid ongoing debate over immigration, border management, and regional cooperation, underscoring the need for lawful migration while maintaining good relations between neighbouring countries.
