BATTLE OF THE CHAIRMAN'S - Botlokwa, Limpopo.
Under the harsh August sun at Naughty Sports Ground, where R40,000 was at stake, one man kept defying gravity. Kamogelo Dickson Mamabolo.
Just after his FINAL display on Saturday, Tsa_Brivo caught up with the goalkeeper pitchside. Interview by Conny Matjipa, in a conversation that revealed more than just saves.
On aerial dominance:
"At University of Limpopo, our goalkeeper coach drills one word into us: TIMING. Master your timing, you master the ball. That's how I win every aerial duel."
On tactical maturity:
"It all goes down to experience. Everything we do during the training sessions, I make sure I apply it during the games."
On his future:
In a quiet moment, Mamabolo confirmed he is without a club after his departure from Pretoria Callies. A free agent. In a tournament where first prize was R30,000, he was playing like a man with a point to prove.
And on inspiration:
When asked which PSL goalkeeper he models his game on, he didn't hesitate. "None." Instead, he mentioned EPL goalkeeper "Raya. That's who inspires me."
A free agent from Limpopo, forged at the University of Limpopo, wearing Raya in Botlokwa β and playing with the confidence of a number one.
The question is no longer if he can dominate kasi football. It's who in the professional ranks is watching.

FROM MOHLABILE TO MAGESI: DONE DEAL βοΈ
Kgotlelelo "Master" Motupa has completed a move from Mohlabile United to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Magesi FC.
The forward was a key figure for Mohlabile in the Limpopo ABC Motsepe League and now takes the step up to the NFD as Magesi push for a return to the Betway Premiership.

THROWBACK β Mafori Cup Preseason π
I interviewed the Magesi FC coach a while back during preseason (Mafori Cup).
He told me: "Attacking football. We will DOMINATE and get back to Betway Premiership."
