BALFA Closes 2025/2026 Season with Successful Prize-Giving Ceremony.

The Ba Phalaborwa Local Football Association (BALFA) has officially brought the 2025/2026 football season to a successful conclusion with a prize-giving ceremony held today, 22 August 2026, where all teams that participated in the BALFA Promotional League were recognised and awarded prizes.

A key highlight of the season was BALFA's commitment to ensuring that 100% of the affiliation fees collected were shared among the participating teams. This reflects the Association's commitment to supporting clubs and ensuring that teams directly benefit from the development of football within the local association.

BALFA would like to express its sincere appreciation to SANLAM, represented by Mr Azwinndini Neluvhada, for the valuable support provided to the Association and participating teams. SANLAM supported the prize-giving initiative with soccer jersey kits, medals and trophies, making a meaningful contribution towards the success of the event.

BALFA also extends its appreciation to IMAS, represented by Mr Makhubele Howard, for his efforts in ensuring that the necessary support was secured and that the prize-giving ceremony became a reality.

The 2025/2026 season also marked an important milestone for BALFA, with four teams promoted to the SAFA Mopani Hollywoodbets Regional League. The promoted teams are:

1. Super Eagles FC
2. Ba Phalaborwa Athletic FC
3. Selwana Seven Stars FC
4. Boelang Celtics FC

These teams will now join established clubs from the Phalaborwa area, including MJM Hotspurs FC, Mabele Academy, Phalaborwa Celtics FC and other teams competing in the Hollywoodbets Regional League.

The final championship standings for the BALFA Promotional League 2025/2026 season were:

* Champions: Super Eagles FC
* 2nd Place: Ba Phalaborwa Athletic FC
* 3rd Place: Selwana Seven Stars
* 4th Place: Boelang Celtics

BALFA Chairperson, Mr Fannie Maluleke, expressed his appreciation to SANLAM and IMAS for their contribution towards football development and the successful prize-giving ceremony.

Mr Maluleke also made a strong appeal to local businesses and organisations to come forward and support football development in Ba-Phalaborwa.

> “We would like to sincerely thank SANLAM and IMAS for believing in BALFA and supporting our teams. We call upon other local businesses to join hands with us and invest in football development. Football plays an important role in bringing our communities together and creating opportunities for young people.”

The Chairperson further thanked all participating teams for their resilience and commitment throughout the season, acknowledging that the journey was not always easy.

He encouraged more football clubs from around Phalaborwa to join the BALFA league, with registration for the 2026/2027 season now open until 31 September 2026.He also assured clubs that BALFA is committed to delivering an even better and more organised season in 2026/2027.

Speaking on behalf of SANLAM, Mr Azwinndini Neluvhada congratulated BALFA and all participating teams for completing the season successfully.

SANLAM encouraged the players and clubs to continue working hard, remain committed to football and use sport as a positive platform to keep young people away from social ills.

SANLAM further encouraged BALFA to continue with its good work in developing football at grassroots level. The organisation also indicated its willingness to make time to visit BALFA games, watch the teams in action and provide support whenever possible.

BALFA regards the successful conclusion of the 2025/2026 season as an important step in the continued development of football in Ba-Phalaborwa. The promotion of four teams to the Hollywoodbets Regional League demonstrates the growing competitiveness and potential of football within the association.

The Association remains committed to improving its competitions, supporting clubs, developing players and match officials, and creating meaningful opportunities through football.

BALFA calls on clubs, businesses, supporters and other stakeholders to continue working together to build a stronger footballing community in Ba-Phalaborwa.
