Have you ever caught yourself talking faster, answering before you've even thought it through, or feeling a low-grade tension you can't quite name? ๐ค That's not just nerves โ that's often your false self taking over.
Most of us have been performing a version of ourselves for so long that we've genuinely forgotten there's a difference between who we are and who we've built ourselves to be. Your false self shows up to gain approval, avoid rejection, or meet other people's expectations. Your true self shows up when nobody's judging โ genuine curiosity, honest emotion, opinions that are actually yours.
The good news? Both leave clues. Physical, emotional, and behavioural signals that tell you exactly which version is in the driver's seat at any given moment.
This week, notice one moment your voice speeds up or your chest tightens โ and one moment you feel curious, calm, and completely yourself. โจ

Ever caught someone staring and had to decide, in half a second, whether to ignore it, explain it, or joke about it?
I live with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and using crutches, being stared at in public is a given. However a lot of people may not realy mean to be rude, they're just curious. Most people never had to think twice how to move from point A to point B so when they finally see it done differently, of course they will look.
The question is not whether people will stare, they will. The real question is what you do in that moment: educate, ignore, or have a little fun with it.
In this video I share how I've learned to handle the stares without losing my humour, or my patience - ok, maybe sometimes. ๐
What do you usually do when you catch someone staring at you?
If you have questions about living with a physical disability as an individual with a disability yourself, a parent, significant other, a caregiver, or an employer of a person with a physical disability (spina bifida and paraplegia) you can book a 40 Min Live 1-on-1 Disability Q&A with me here: https://strongmindt.com/book-a-call.

Before you can live authentically, you have to see the water you've been swimming in. The invisible rules from your family, culture, gender, religion, and career have been shaping your identity your whole life โ often without your consent, and definitely without your awareness.
Things like "be the responsible one," "don't make waves," "put others first," "fit in." They feel like personal beliefs. Most of them are actually borrowed blueprints.
Here's the shift: you can't choose your authentic self until you can clearly see which parts of your current self were chosen by someone else.
This week, pick one "rule" you live by and ask: is this genuinely mine, or did I just inherit it? โจ

How many of your "core beliefs" did you actually choose โ and how many were just handed to you? ๐ค
Before you can live authentically, you have to see the water you've been swimming in so to speak. The invisible rules from your family, culture, gender, religion, and career have been shaping your identity your whole life โ often without your consent, and definitely without your awareness

๐ค๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐พ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: think back over the last 5 years. What's one thing you achieved that you just knew would make you significantly happier? Got it? Now be honest โ how long did that feeling actually last? ๐ค
For most of us, it fades faster than we'd like to admit. That's the hedonic treadmill โ happiness that spikes with a win, then quietly resets back to baseline.
But here's what doesn't fade: the deep sense of rightness you feel when you're being fully, unapologetically yourself. That's eudaimonic happiness โ and it's not random. It's the direct result of living in alignment with who you actually are.
This isn't a philosophy lesson. It's proof you can find in your own life, if you know where to look.
๐ What's one moment in the last few years where you felt genuinely, deeply yourself โ not just excited, but right? Tell me below.

Happiness isn't a vague unachievable concept โ Its actually much more atainable than you think and a code you can actually crack.
Behind every StrongMindt course is the PERMAH model: Positive Emotions, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning and Purpose, Accomplishment, and Physical Health โ plus 2 components I believe are non-negotiable for real wellbeing: Authenticity and Self-Knowledge, and Workplace Wellness
That's the 8 building blocks of a happy, thriving life. 8 full courses - One roadmap toward a life that's uniquely yours โ not some unattainable idea of "perfectly happy."
And here's the part most people dont realise: happiness isn't a single decision you make once. It's a choice you keep making, on repeat, even after you've done the work.
Which of these 8 components do you feel is missing most in your life right now?

Guilt is heavy on its own. Now imagine carrying it every time your body needs rest or you feel really ill or have complications as a result of your disability, and every time you're "absent again," someone raises an eyebrow at your absence and expects an explanation or you feel like you need to give an explanation.
If you live with a physical disability, you know this guilt trip well: justifying your existence, and ignoring your needs so others don't have to "cover for you," and feeling like you must go the extra mile just to be seen as equal. If you don't live with a disability, I'd bet you've felt a version of this too โ guilt visits anyone the world expects more from than it understands.
Guilt tells you you're failing. The truth? That guilt was never yours to carry. You're doing more than you think. ๐
Let it go!

So, I signed up for a Walk-and-Talk Video Challenge. Innitially I misunderstood the challenge and thought this was just going to be a practice run because I am scared to death of that big red record button and I really cringed at putting these videos on social media, since I am really not looking my best here and developed a cold as well. Until Sarah Cordiner double-dared me. And we all know - You don't dare a disabled person! ๐ So here it is. My very first, vey unkept me, live video!

Ever feel exhausted after a day where nothing really "went wrong" to make you feel tiredโ you just spent the whole time being a version of yourself that isn't quite you? ๐ฎ๐จ
That exhaustion has a name: performance stress. And it's not the only cost of fitting in. There's also the resentment that builds when you keep saying yes while meaning no. And the disconnection you feel even when you're surrounded by people โ because none of them actually know you.
These costs are patterns. And patterns can be traced, understood, and changed.
This week, notice one moment where you performed instead of showing up as yourself. What did it cost you โ before, during, and after? โจ
๐ Which cost hits closest to home for you: stress, resentment, or disconnection? Tell me below.
