PINK IS A STATEMENT💗
Right now, South Africa is once again being forced to confront the devastating reality of Gender-Based Violence and Femicide
Over the past two months, the bodies of nine women have been discovered in and around Ekurhuleni. Families are grieving, communities are afraid, and once again, the safety of women and girls is at the centre of a national conversation.
So when we wear decided to change our team colours to pink, it wasn't simply for display.
It is a statement.
It is our way of standing in solidarity with victims and survivors.
It is our way of saying that violence against women cannot become something we simply accept as normal.
And it is our way of using the platform we have, even if it is a hockey pitch, to remind people that this issue extends far beyond the boundaries of a game.
Across our backs, from our playing kit to our coaches and supporters kit, we carry four words:
Because behind every statistic is a person.
A daughter. A sister. A mother. A friend. A teammate.
We wear pink for them.
We play for them.
And we stand with them. 🩷
