We are Gold Link Football Club, a small, youth football team based in Ga Phaahla Makadikwe, which was established in 2016. We train and play at Makadikwe Primary School Ground. We have been engaged in youth development through the medium of football, taking in children of all ages from 6 years old all the way to 25 years. The club has qualified Grassroots football coaches at the club as well as experienced, former professionals part of the team’s coaching and technical department.

MATCH REPORT: PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY

GOLD LINK FOOTBALL CLUB vs MPHANAMA UNITED FC

Date: Saturday, 29 August 2026 | Venue: Phaahla Tigers Sports Ground

Format: Three-Block Training Match (30' + 40' + 35')

Gold Link Football Club hosted fellow Sekhukhune campaigners Mphanama United FC in a highly competitive pre-season friendly earlier today.

The technical team opted for a three-block format to maximize minutes and assess the full squad depth ahead of the new SAFA Sekhukhune Regional League season.

BLOCK-BY-BLOCK SUMMARY:

1st Block - 30 Minutes: Gold Link FC 0-0 Mphanama United FC

A cagey opening block with both sides showing early season rust. Gold Link dominated possession with good combination play in midfield but failed to convert half-chances. Solid defensive display to keep a clean sheet. The block ended goalless.

2nd Block - 40 Minutes: Gold Link FC 0-0 Mphanama United FC

The main tactical block saw the introduction of experienced players. The tempo increased with both teams creating clear opportunities. Our goalkeeper made two crucial saves to keep Mphanama at bay, while our striker hit the upright. Another 0-0, showing defensive discipline from both sides.

3rd Block - 35 Minutes: Gold Link FC 1-0 Mphanama United FC

The final block was decided by fresh legs from the bench. Gold Link showed superior fitness and urgency. The breakthrough came late in the block after sustained pressure, securing a 1-0 win in the final chukka.

Overall Aggregate: Gold Link FC 1-0 Mphanama United FC (105 Minutes)

Coach's Verdict:
"A good workout for the boys. We kept two clean sheets out of three blocks and managed to win the last block. The fitness level is improving, combination is coming. We still need to be more clinical in front of goals, but I'm happy with the attitude.
