Cleaning a pool involves a weekly routine of skimming surface debris, brushing walls and tiles, vacuuming the floor, cleaning the skimmer/pump baskets, and balancing chemicals to maintain a pH of 7.2–7.6. Using a robotic vacuum simplifies cleaning, while manual vacuuming requires setting the filter to "waste" to remove heavy sediment.
Weekly Pool Cleaning Routine
1.Skim the Surface: Remove leaves, bugs, and debris from the surface using a net to prevent them from sinking.
2.Brush Walls and Floor: Use a pool brush to scrub walls, steps, and ladders to prevent algae buildup.
3.Empty Baskets: Remove debris from the skimmer basket and pump basket to maintain proper water flow.
4.Vacuum the Pool: Use a robotic or manual vacuum to clean the floor. For heavy debris or algae, vacuum to "waste" to avoid clogging the filter.
5.Test and Balance Water: Test for proper pH (7.2–7.6) and chlorine levels (2-4 ppm).Clean the Filter: Backwash sand filters or clean/replace cartridge filters when the pressure gauge indicates a 10 PSI increase.
Deep Cleaning and Maintenance
1.Shock the Pool: Add chlorine shock in the evening to oxidize contaminants and kill algae.
2.Clean the Waterline: Use a 50/50 mixture of water and white vinegar or specialized pool cleaner to remove calcium deposits.
3.Manage Algae: Brush areas with limited circulation frequently, as these are prime spots for algae growth.
Essential Tools
1.Telescopic pole with a skimmer net and brush attachment.
2.Vacuum head, hose, and vacuum plate.
3.Water test kit
