The Autódromo Internacional de Maputo is one of Southern Africa's hidden gems. At just over 3.9 km, the circuit combines long straights with high-speed sweepers, heavy braking zones and a mix of technical corners that reward precision and punish mistakes.

Drivers need commitment through the fast sections, patience in the tighter corners and the confidence to carry speed without running out of road. Finding the perfect rhythm is the secret to a quick lap.

With close racing, multiple overtaking opportunities and very little room for error, Maputo has all the ingredients for spectacular motorsport.

Often overlooked, the mirrors on our Backdraft Cobras are one of the most important tools a racing driver has.

Mirrors play a vital role in race craft, helping drivers defend their position, judge overtaking opportunities, and stay aware of everything happening around them.

With multiple classes competing in the Backdraft Racing Series, speed differences are all part of the challenge. Some cars may be lapping you, while others are fighting for the same position. Constant awareness is essential.

That's why you'll often see our drivers adjusting their mirrors the moment they climb into the cockpit. A perfectly positioned rear-view mirror can make all the difference between a clean battle and a missed opportunity.

This official technical inspection ensures every race car complies with the regulations and, most importantly, is safe to compete. From safety equipment and mechanical condition to technical compliance, every detail is carefully checked to create a safe and fair racing environment.

The Backdraft Racing Series is an official Motorsport South Africa championship, which means we adhere to the highest standards of safety and technical regulations.

🏁 Round 4 KZN Road Racing Club Complete!

Round 4 of the Backdraft Racing Sprint Series at Dezzi Raceway delivered another thrilling battle between the usual front-runners.

Steve Clark put his Backdraft Cobra on Pole Position, but couldn't convert it into victory. After one hour of intense racing, Jordan Edwards' nimble Formula M once again proved to have the edge over the heavier Backdraft Cobras of Mike McLoughlin and Steve Clark.

In the Index of Performance, however, it was a clean sweep for Backdraft:

It's great to be back at our home track for Round 4 of the KZN Road Racing Club Sprint Series.

Today's schedule is a little different from the norm, with the 1-hour endurance race kicking things off at 09:00, followed by three sprint races for the Backdraft Cobras.

If you're in the neighbourhood, come and join us for a full day of exciting racing. We'd love to see you trackside!

This weekend is also the perfect opportunity for the team to fine-tune everything ahead of our trip to Mozambique in just three weeks' time.

Meet Elson Sithole – arguably one of the most important drivers in the Backdraft Racing Series.

While the rest of the field battles it out on the racetrack, Elson is the man behind the wheel of the Backdraft Racing transporter, making sure every car arrives safely and on time.

Without him, there would be no race cars at the circuit... which means no drivers would be driving at all! 😂

A huge shout-out to one of the unsung heroes of our championship. Thanks for keeping the show on the road, Elson! 👏
