Cape Swords HEMA

This past weekend Cape Swords HEMA hosted their first ever steel longsword tournament! And turned out to be a roaring success with our combatants competing in a round robin style tournament.

The competitors showed true endurance as they fought their way through a total of eight bouts per person while maintaining form and skill.

After the dust had settled and the sodden gambesons had been removed the top three competitors were as follows:

1st place - Thomas 🥇

2nd place - Ethan 🥈

3rd place - Torin 🥉

Thank you to all who participated as well as those who assisted as Judges , Marshals and Scorekeepers. The biggest thanks goes to the organisers who put the tournament together and enabled us to have this wonderful event .

🤺 At the 2026 Senior World Championships in Hong Kong, Historical Fencing brought the past to life with live demonstrations of 16th and 17th Century European swordsmanship.

⚔️From Renaissance two-handed swords and bucklers to Baroque rapiers, practitioners showcased techniques drawn from historical fencing manuals, while even some of today’s top fencers got the chance to pick up replica swords and give them a try.
