The design graphic on the new Away Kit transforms into flowing organic patterns that express a fluidity of movement. The retro-futuristic design of the Tradition into Tomorrow kit captures the team's proud legacy, dynamism and commitment to pushing boundaries on and off the pitch.

Mahikeng — The relegation of Homeboys United FC from the SAFA North West ABC Motsepe League has sparked a serious dispute over the interpretation and application of the competition’s promotion and relegation regulations.

Homeboys United finished 11th on the stream log, but the club and its representatives are challenging the decision to relegate them, arguing that the league’s own regulations should have protected the club following the promotion of NWU FC.

According to the rule as explained to us, when a team is promoted from a particular stream, the team positioned immediately above the relegation places is saved from relegation.

In this case, the promotion of NWU FC is central to the argument.

The position being advanced is that because NWU FC has been promoted from the stream, Homeboys United — the team above the relegation position — should be spared relegation.

The dispute has been further complicated by the league's decision to promote five teams from the Hollywoodbets Regional League instead of the four teams that, according to stakeholders, had traditionally been promoted.

It is this decision that Homeboys and those challenging the outcome are now questioning.

The argument is not simply about Homeboys' final league position, but whether the decision to promote five teams — rather than four — has effectively altered the relegation consequences for clubs in the ABC Motsepe League.

Those challenging the decision maintain that this has not happened previously, raising questions about why the promotion structure was changed this season and whether the decision is consistent with the approved competition regulations.

The issue was reportedly raised and challenged during a meeting, with questions asked about the application of the promotion and relegation rules.

However, despite the challenge, Homeboys United were reportedly informed that they would be relegated.

The club's position is that the regulations should be applied consistently and that the promotion of NWU should result in Homeboys being retained if the relevant rule is interpreted as stated.

Attempts to obtain clarity from the relevant SAFA North West structures have reportedly proved difficult.

Molwantwa is alleged to have avoided calls seeking clarification on the matter, while Mr Matsi, the PEC member, has reportedly left the province to take up a national role.

According to information provided to us, Acting PEO Mr Witness told the concerned parties that he had been instructed to relegate Homeboys United.

That statement raises another important question: Who issued the instruction, and on what specific regulation was the instruction based?

The dispute is therefore centred on three key issues:

- Whether the promotion of NWU FC should have resulted in Homeboys United being saved from relegation.
- Why five teams were promoted from the Hollywoodbets Regional League instead of four.
- Whether there is a valid regulation or approved decision that allows SAFA North West to alter the established promotion and relegation structure in this manner.

Homeboys and those challenging the decision are now seeking clarity and are questioning what they regard as an unprecedented application of the regulations.

The issue could have significant implications beyond Homeboys United, because the interpretation of promotion and relegation rules affects the competitive integrity of the entire SAFA North West ABC Motsepe League.

At this stage, the key document is the official SAFA North West competition regulation governing promotion and relegation, as well as the official decision approving the promotion of five Hollywoodbets Regional League teams.

Until those documents are produced and the relevant clauses are explained, questions surrounding Homeboys United's relegation are unlikely to disappear.

The question now is simple: if the regulations say the team above relegation is saved when a team from the stream is promoted, why is Homeboys United being relegated after NWU FC's promotion?
