The Eoghan Rua community extends our deepest sympathies to the Harley family on the passing of James. James was a proud Gaeilgeoir, who was frequently in attendance at our Irish classes, and who along with his family, have added so much to our community. We are keeping the Harley family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. May James rest in peace.

HARLEY – 17TH August 2026, Dr. James Bernard Harley R.I.P., peacefully at home, 75 Central Avenue, Portstewart. Dearly loved husband of the late Celine, much loved father of Dearbhla (David), Áine (Des), Clare (Dominic), Conor (Ita) and the late Seamus and Padraic, devoted Granda of Seana (Cormac), Patrick, Philippa, William, Thomas, Catherine, Jarlath, Peter, Tom and Hugh, great-granda of Gráinne and a much loved brother and uncle. House private. Dr. Harley is reposing at Wades Funeral Home, 3 Upper Abbey Street, Coleraine BT52 1BF. Everyone welcome to call tomorrow, Tuesday from 2.00pm-4.00pm and 6.00pm-8.00pm. His remains will leave his late home on Wednesday at 6.30pm to St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Church, Portstewart. Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 11.00am followed by interment in Agherton Cemetery. Family flowers only please. We’re super excited about the official opening of our new pitch, gym and ball wall on Saturday August 15th at Pairc Eoghain Rua!💪

There’s an action packed day planned! To kick things off, we have our annual club blitz starting at 10:30. This is your chance to see all our future stars in action! ⚾️🏐

At 12:30, we have our official opening of our new pitch, ball wall and gym, and then at 1:00, there’s a colour run and some entertainment… and it wouldn’t be the club blitz without a BBQ🍔🎨🎶

Our senior footballers had a fantastic 3-14 to 0-13 win over Faughanvale earlier this evening in Celtic Park to earn promotion back to Division 1 for next season.
It was a fully deserved victory carved out from a resolute defensive performance that denied Faughanvale any real attempts on goal while our midfield dominated in the second half to set up a series of attacks which were converted into points that kept the 'Vale very much at bay.
The platform was set in the first half with three fine goals all converted with aplomb, the first our opening score as Lorcan McMullen blasted low to the far corner in the 6th minute. A two-point free had Faughanvale briefly ahead 0-5 to 1-1 before a Pearse McGonigle equalizing free. The Vale went ahead again with a two-pointer from play but Pearse McGonigle pointed a free and then came a second goal. A brilliant pass from Adam Kerr put Dara Mooney through and he made no mistake firing to the net, 2-3 to 0-8 now the score 20 minutes in.
Then came a decisive period, Dara Mooney was hauled down for a penalty and he dusted himself down before sending the keeper the wrong way for a third goal. The sides exchanged points as ER went in 3-4 to 0-9 ahead.
Early in the second half ER added three points to extend their lead and going into the last ten still led 3-9 to 0-10.
Faughanvale then had a good spell with three points in a row but ER settled again and dominated the closing stages beginning with a two-pointer free by Pearse McGonigle, 3-11 to 0-13 now the score going into the last five minutes. The ER defence maintained their dominant form in the remaining minutes and proved the launch pad for attacks that yielded three more points to copper fasten victory and a return to Division 1 football.
