This post was inspired by Andre Selbach on IG.

Did you know that s***m does 1% of all the job of creating the human? And the egg does 99% of the job. The egg is 8,000 times larger than a s***m. The contribution of the s***m is 50% of the DNA and 23 of the 46 chromosomes. Contribution of the s***m must now be downplayed but 99.9% of all of the volume of creation of the human came from the egg.

And the analogy of how much the egg does versus what the s***m does is this: the egg and the s***m come together and they each draw the blueprint of the human, and then the egg hires all of the workers, provides all of the materials and makes sure that everything communicates together in the way that everything happens exactly as it is supposed to. And the part that s***m played was talking about at the beginning how human was going to be created, and then the entire ex*****on, 99.9% of everything was done by the egg.

The egg contains the entire cytoplasm, which is all of the materials, the nutrients and the organelles that fire off development, and the mitochondria, which are the powerhouse of the cell. All of the mitochondria come from the egg and none of it comes from the s***m. Also epigenetics and developmental influence comes almost strictly from the mother and very minimally from the father.

We came from the Mother โ€” from Woman mostly.
And the egg that would later become you was sitting in your motherโ€™s ovaries from the moment she was conceived. So while your mother was in the womb of your grandmother, the egg was already there. So you were part of your grandmother and part of your mother. You were there right from the beginning, through all of her developmental stages, through all of her life experiences. You were part of the experience of your grandmother going through pregnancy and your mother going through pregnancy.
And if we think about the process of creation of the human from the angle that it takes 10 minutes of male participation and then it takes nine months of the mother growing, carrying and nourishing from within the child, and then going through the process of birthing โ€” which, by the way โ€ฆ CONTINUE IN COMMENTS

Raising a sensitive boy has taught me so much about emotion, masculinity and the way we condition children away from their own inner knowing.

There was a moment years ago when my son hurt himself and I told him, as I had many times before, that surely it couldnโ€™t hurt that much.
One day he looked at me and said:
โ€œYou canโ€™t know how much it hurts because itโ€™s not your body. Even if you had exactly the same injury, it might hurt you less than it hurts me.โ€
In that moment, my son became my biggest teacher.
He reflected back to me how I was projecting onto him my idea of masculinity ( tough, robust, resilient ) and how unconsciously I was invalidating his felt experience.
Since then, something has changed deeply in the way I parent him.
I want him to stay connected to what his body is telling him.
Because emotions are not weaknesses to overcome. They are powerfully and an information.

Sadness can tell us something mattered.
Anger can tell us a boundary has been crossed.
Fear can alert us to danger.
Discomfort can tell us something or someone doesnโ€™t feel right.
Grief tells us we have loved.
When we repeatedly teach children to override those signals, we may also be teaching them to disconnect from their inner compass.
My deepest wish is that our children, and especially our boys, are allowed to remain connected to the full spectrum of their emotional lives.
So that they grow into men who do not fear feeling.
Men who can recognise their own pain without numbing it.
Men who can hear their own boundaries and respect the boundaries of others.
And men who can sit beside the grief, anger, rage, tenderness and vulnerability of another human being without needing to silence it, diminish it or immediately fix it.
Because emotional intelligence is not the opposite of strength.
Perhaps it is one of its deepest forms. ๐Ÿค

This week we opened The Firs Woodland Sauna for our first intimate community sessions and, oh my goodness, our hearts are so full.

Weโ€™ve already welcomed so many beautiful people into this little pocket of the valley, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly warm and heartfelt. It has reinforced everything we felt when we first dreamed of building this sauna โ€” that we wanted to create something we could share. A little slice of tranquillity in nature. A place of warmth, stillness, beauty and connection.

One of our dear friends who came to the session this morning said how rare it is to experience this level of stillness โ€” the beauty of the surroundings, the heat of the sauna, the cold, the quiet โ€” and how deeply at home she felt within herself. At peace with herself, with life, and with everything around her.

And this is exactly why we created The Firs.

A space to step away from the noise for a while. To reconnect with yourself. To reconnect with nature and the beauty of simply being alive. To feel your body soften, your nervous system settle, and to experience that beautiful sense of community and human connection that so many of us are craving.

If you feel called to experience The Firs Woodland Sauna for yourself, our small community sessions are now open:

Time and time again recently, I have come across posts saying, โ€œYoga is dead. Itโ€™s all about Pilates now.โ€ And then, almost immediately, I see yoga teachers responding with some version of: but we can make it work. We just need to change the vocabulary, explain muscle engagement more clearly, talk about how to activate specific muscle groups in the body, bring in more strength, mobility or resistance work.

And I literally want to scream: NO !!!!!

We do not need to make yoga look more like Pilates, or like any other mobility or movement discipline, in order to keep it relevant. If anything, I feel we need the opposite. We need to return to the original blueprint of the practice, to its philosophy, methodology and lineage.

Over the last ten years, I have watched yoga change enormously, and I have been reflecting on this both as a teacher and as a practitioner. When I first began my own yoga journey, my practice was much more rooted in traditional Ashtanga Yoga. There was a methodology, a lineage, a philosophy and a sense that what was happening on the mat was only one small part of something much bigger.
Then social media grew, yoga became increasingly visible and, with that, increasingly monetised. Brands entered the space, affiliate marketing grew, yoga became an industry and its popularity expanded enormously. But somewhere within that expansion, I feel we also began to lose something of yoga as a spiritual discipline.

The Western mind has an incredible ability to take something deeply rooted in Eastern spirituality and philosophy and reshape it into something that fits a Western framework. More and more teachers began teaching their own interpretations of yoga, often blending it with Pilates, mobility, strength and resistance work, flexibility training, functional movement and somatics. And I want to say clearly that I do not think there is anything wrong with these practices. I have done exactly the same over the last eight years. I have explored, blended, adapted and created my own ways of working with the body, and I see enormous value in all of it. CONTINUE IN COMMENTS

In my latest post I shared my real, raw and vulnerable expression of grief, deep sadness and anger at the current state of affairs in the world.
Whilst the women who responded expressed such solidarity and gratitude for this expression, I had one man respond with the message shared above. And it led me into another deep contemplation. What was fascinating to me was that he didnโ€™t acknowledge a single point I was actually speaking about, but instead chose to focus on the emotions I was feeling while speaking about it.
To me, this is part of the very problem I am describing when it comes to the suppression, manipulation and misunderstanding of the feminine. A woman publicly expresses grief, rage, moral clarity and embodied feeling, and the response becomes a question of whether she is sufficiently โ€œstableโ€, โ€œcentredโ€ or mentally well. This has a very long history. Womenโ€™s anger and emotional intensity have so often been pathologised rather than engaged with on their actual substance.

For centuries women were institutionalised, silenced and pathologised for emotions and behaviours that did not conform to what was considered acceptable femininity. They were put through โ€œattitude correctionโ€ treatments, hysterectomy ( hysterical women ).
Because a woman in her full expression has always been threatening to a culture, and especially to forms of masculinity, that have been conditioned to fear emotion, suppress it, intellectualise it or disconnect from it.
There is a historic lack of understanding of the feminine cyclical, watery, emotional, โ€œred-blooded womanโ€ nature. A nature woven from polarities: softness and fierceness, joy and sadness, peacefulness and the warrior, calm and anger, bliss and despair. We are not designed to remain within one emotionally acceptable range at all times. There is an entire spectrum moving through us, and our capacity to feel it does not automatically mean that we are unstable or too open.
Quite the opposite โ€” this is part of our original design. This is what it means, to me, to be a woman, to be able to drop deeply into the body and feel, even when at times it may feel almost unbearable to feel this much. CONTINUE

Today my heart bleeds with so much grief and pain, and my chest burns with anger at the state of this world.

Thousands of wild horses, more than 6,000 through aerial shooting alone, have been killed in Kosciuszko National Park in Australia because they are classified as feral. These majestic wild beings, who for me represent freedom, joy, instinct, truth and something so deeply alive, are being destroyed in the Year of the Horse. And to me this speaks of something much deeper than population control. It speaks of our profound disconnection from the natural world, from the four-legged family, from the understanding that we belong to this Earth rather than stand above it.

And then I look at the latest developments in AI, robotics and the booming sex-doll industry. Female-bodied dolls are becoming increasingly lifelike with vaginas and faces that can be customised to resemble real people, and bodies can be made to carry the imagery of bruising, violence and harm.
Mainstream commercial po*******hy has historically been produced predominantly for the male gaze, with womenโ€™s bodies presented as the primary object of visual consumption and male pleasure treated as the organising point of much of the content.

And now, in parts of the US, courts have ruled that the private possession of certain entirely AI-generated child sexual abuse imagery may be legally protected where no real child was used in its creation.

I mean, what the actual f**k? How is this real? How is this legal? How is this allowed to be happening?
Isnโ€™t this obvious how the machine is continually feeding and serving the predators and keep feeding, child abuse and r**e consciousness?

Doesnโ€™t this show us something deeply disturbing about the structures we allowed to be created, structures that can continue to accommodate, normalise and feed predatory desire, exploitation and violence? And while yes, the wound of separation from Spirit and from the natural world is at the heart of so much of this, I see an even deeper wound and split, and that is the separation from the Mother, from the feminine, from Mother Earth herself. Iโ€™m not my body. Iโ€™m not my mind.

A few days ago I listened to Antarmaโ€™s new album, and as much as I love his music, this specific phrase brought another deep contemplation for me.

Because this is exactly the friction, the disconnect, I experience within a lot of the masculine framework of awakening, enlightenment and self-realisation, a framework deeply rooted in transcendence.
And it can be found within religion, and within Yoga, which you would think is a discipline deeply rooted in the body. But because the majority of Yoga practices known to us were founded, developed and transmitted by male teachers, they often follow this same path of transcendence.

The emphasis is so often on taking the seat of the observer, observing the mind, quietening or composing the mind, disciplining the body.
And of course, to some extent, we all need this.
But if our practice of self-realisation is solely rooted in transcendence and observation, we can inevitably begin to dissociate and disconnect from the deeper wisdom that lives directly within the body.

It wasnโ€™t until I started walking the path of the Divine Feminine and studying within ancient lineages of feminine mysteries that this split, this disassociation, began to make complete sense to me.
By eradicating and destroying so much of feminine wisdom, and the feminine aspect of Creation, the feminine aspect of God, we also disconnected from the wisdom of Gaia, Mother Earth, from the body, and from the lower wisdom centres that exist beyond the rational mind.
Our intuition. Our primordial, instinctual wisdom. The intelligence of the heart.
The intelligence of the womb and pelvic bowl.
We disconnected from another aspect of Creation that is inseparable from what we call transcendence.
And if we focus only on transcendence, I feel we can so easily fall into another illusion.Because whatever experience we have โ€” no matter how expanded, mystical or seemingly out-of-body it might feel, no matter how much it makes us feel that โ€œIโ€™m not my body, Iโ€™m not my mindโ€ โ€” the experience itself still happens through the body.
Because of the body. CONTINUE IN C0MMENTS โ€ฆ
