Ryan Holder Outdoors received his order and put together a great review and unboxing video! He picked out some fantastic colors, and we hope they catch some big ones for him.
We love sharing our baits with anglers, and there's nothing better than seeing people find success fishing with them.
That said, fishing isn't always perfect, and neither are we. Ryan's video showed us that we need to improve our packaging and switch to more oil-resistant barcode labels. I usually see our lures hanging on store shelves, but I don't get to see what they go through during shipping. That kind of feedback is incredibly valuable.
This is exactly why we value our affiliate partners. They don't just create great content—they provide honest feedback that helps us continue improving our products.
Be sure to check out Ryan's video, give him a follow, and support his content!

Well, we took our second kayak trip of the year on moving water. We chose to keep it close to home and floated the Conodoguinet Creek around the Camp Hill area. I had never floated this section before and had also never fished it this time of year.
This is an honest opinion article about what we saw and experienced while fishing this section of creek during the middle of summer. These conditions will change seasonally, and fishing this creek will be very different in, let's say, early to late spring.
We started at the Good Hope soft launch, destined for the Oyster Mill soft launch downstream. We wanted to target smallmouth bass and see what this creek looked like as it snaked through Hampden Township.
We found some success catching fish, but it was tough with the mid-summer conditions on this section. The water level was low, averaging only 1 to 2 feet deep at best, and for the first few miles the bottom was about 95 percent covered in heavy grass and moss growth.
The toughest part of the trip was the insane amount of grass and moss floating loose in the water. Not just single strands or small clumps, but doormat-sized w**d beds were constantly drifting downstream, making it difficult to fish anything that required a steady retrieve. With the low, clear water, it was also very easy to stand up in a kayak and spook every bass within 20 yards.
Now, with all of the water conditions out of the way, I want to make a positive note about the bass we caught and saw. For creek fishing, these were quality smallmouth bass, which was very surprising considering this is a low-water creek. I did not see one "d**k" bass. Everything we caught was a good size, and some were truly big bass, even comparable to quality Susquehanna River smallmouth.
You can tell these smallmouth have been surviving for years, hiding not in deep holes—because there are very few in this section—but underneath w**d beds and beneath rocks that had what seemed like 100 pounds of w**ds caught on them. I moved some of those stuck muck piles, and they all held a lot of small baitfish and smallmouth.
Which is what we started to target. We tried punching and finesse fishing underneath those w**d beds to bring the smallies out and get them chasing.
I found success with our 3" Hellgramite rigged sideways w**dless on a Texas rig, as seen on Jake's Bait and Tackle page. They are another amazing Muddy Water Lures dealer and have a fantastic shop down in Wi******er, Virginia, specializing in a wide variety of custom lures from small businesses.
To summarize this fishing float, most of our fish came from the heavy w**ded sections of the creek, with only a few decent holes throughout the several-mile float. Most of the creek was flat, low, and slow.
Would I pick this over many of the other outstanding fisheries we have? Definitely not. However, if you could time this float for late evening and shorten the trip, you could throw a w**dless topwater, look for big aggressive smallmouth feeding at dusk, and probably have a blast doing it.
