Barona Summer Shootout recap.

Practice

We had a pretty good practice night. We tried some different things to help the car on the dry slick. It made the car a ton better and gave it more drive. We also got the chance to drive the courtesy car and help make memories for some folks and that was absolutely amazing!

Night 1

We left the changes in the car from practice due to us being last up and ended up being too snug for the heat race finished 6th. That put us one spot out of the transfer and staring 11th in the main. We left the set up in the car for the main and we drove up to third but on a restart fell to fourth and finished there. Our teammate won and we are very happy with how the night ended. Really good run up seven spots and the car survived to race another night, so we thought.

Night 2

We were doing our maintenance and straightening some body panels when we notice our right front upper shock mount had ripped off. Nothing like a little track side patching up. Got it welded back on and loosed the car up a ton as we’re going to be first up. Perfect call started 4th in the heat finished second, but the winner was docked that handed us the win and first up on redraw. We pulled the number 2 and knew we had our work cut out. We choose not the change anything and adjust on wheel offset. Well the crew chief made the right call! Took the lead on the first lap and held them off all night. Several restarts but the car was so hooked up we continued to pull away. Our team mate Steven Luecht Racing got up behind us and we were ready for battle. Always fun to run with your buddies. We took home the checkered flag and Carburetor fastest lap award!

Man what a weekend! Great food, great racing, and most importantly we were surrounded by the best family at the dirt track. Thank you to all of our sponsors that help us get to twelve track every weekend!
