Born on the island of St. Croix, representing Team ISV 🇻🇮 Seba Johnson was breaking records.

🏅She was the first black woman to ski at the Olympics.
🏅Being just 14, she was also the youngest Alpine racer in Olympic history.

Four years later, she raced again for Team ISV / Virgin Islands Olympic Committee at the Albertville 1992 Games.

The Virgin Islands National Guard Biathlon Team attends the Chief National Guard Bureau’s 50th Anniversary National Biathlon Championship at Soldier Hollow, Utah, February 17, 2024. As we wrap up Virgin Islands History Month in the United States Virgin Islands, we wanted to remind you of one Virgin Islands Olympian in particular.

St. Croix born, Ms. Seba Johnson became the first black woman and youngest Alpine racer to ski at the Olympics when she competed for the U.S. Virgin Islands at age 14 in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta. Her participation in these Games was crucial in the formation of the Virgin Islands Winter Sports Federation, which is still active today.
