It is with profound sadness that the British Virgin Islands Basketball Association (BVIBA) has learned of the tragic passing of one of our league’s players.

On behalf of the Executive, member teams, players, officials, volunteers, and the entire BVIBA family, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and everyone affected by this devastating loss.

The basketball community is more than competition…it is a family. Today, we grieve together and stand united in support of all those mourning the loss of a young life taken far too soon.

During this incredibly difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones. We pray that God grants them strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead.

May he rest in eternal peace.

UPDATE: Homicide victim identified as Kmoi Walters

HUNTUMS GHUT, Tortola, VI- Now that the next of kin has been advised of the tragedy, our News Centre can disclose that the victim of the fatal shooting is Kmoi Walters. The shooting happened early this morning, Monday, July 6, 2026, in Huntums Ghut, on the main island of Tortola.

There is mixed information as to what happened, as some claimed it was a chain robbery gone bad. However, police in a press statement said that they are still investigating the matter and will provide more details.

The deceased, who is said to be about 26 years old, succumbed to his injuries at Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital in the capital city, Road Town.
