Mourning in Criollitos de Venezuela:
At least 100 children lost their lives in La Guaira due to the earthquakes.

The president of Criollitos de La Guaira, Jhorny Sojo, highlighted with profound sorrow that most of the ballplayers who passed away belonged to the "semillero" (seedbed) category, aged 4 and 5, while acknowledging the support provided to the affected families.

"What we regret the most is that the majority of the deceased children are from the 'semillero' category, four and five years old. It has been something terrible," Sojo stated, while expressing gratitude for the solidarity and accompaniment shown to those affected.

The Criollitos de Venezuela organization has launched a social media campaign to raise funds to cover the medical treatments and expenses of the surviving players.

El presidente de Criollitos de La Guaira, Jhorny Sojo, destacó con profundo dolor que la mayoría de los peloteros fallecidos pertenecían a la categoría semillero, de 4 y 5 años de edad, mientras reconoció el apoyo brindado a las familias afectadas.

"Lo que más lamentamos es que la mayoría de los niños fallecidos son de la categoría semilleros, de cuatro y cinco años. Ha sido algo terrible", señaló Sojo al mismo tiempo que agradeció la solidaridad y acompañamiento a los afectados.

La organización Criollitos de Venezuela inició una campaña a través de las redes sociales con el propósito de recaudar fondos destinados a cubrir los tratamientos y gastos médicos de los peloteros sobrevivientes.

In Loving Memory of James Goff

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the passing of our dear friend and mentor, James Goff, on June 11th.

James was more than just a colleague; he was the cornerstone of the Caribbean Classics.

Since we launched this journey together in 2020, these international tournaments became much more than just games—they became a platform for competition, connection, and, most importantly, a legacy of giving back. Through his vision, we were able to unite players from the Dominican Republic and Curaçao, while initiating a constant stream of charitable donations that have touched countless lives.

In 2024, we were incredibly proud to see James inducted into the Senior Softball USA Hall of Fame, a testament to his dedication and impact on the sport.

Although health challenges prevented him from joining us for the 2026 tournament, his spirit was felt by every player in the Dominican Republic, many of whom continued to ask about him throughout the event. He was dearly missed.

The entire Softball Classics team is deeply affected by this loss. We send our heartfelt condolences and all our love to his wonderful wife, Jane, and to the many players who had the privilege of knowing and respecting him.

James’s legacy is very much alive in the work we continue to do. May he rest in peace.

In January/2026, Senior Softball USA organization and its players were present at Barceló Bávaro Grand Resort to deliver sports equipment and new uniforms to the 'LIDERES DEL MAÑANA' organization.

Here is the youngest one, 5-year-old Adriel Pichardo Santana, in the middle of practice today.
They always send me videos and photos of appreciation.

This gratitude belongs to everyone... The future 'BIG LEAGUERS' and men of integrity!

I’m thrilled to share with you the donations of uniforms and caps delivered to more than 240 children across several baseball schools in the Dominican Republic:

-Punta Cana School: They visited the hotel to receive their donations.

-Laguna de Nisibón: Located approximately 55 minutes from Punta Cana.

-La Romana: Two youth baseball schools, about an hour from Punta Cana.

-Puerto Plata: Our furthest location, situated in the north of the country (about a 6-hour drive).

A huge thank you to Senior Softball USA and to the Dominican players who sent us recommendations for the baseball schools in Puerto Plata and La Romana. Special thanks to Anthony Acevedo Disla and Henao!

The contributions from so many of you were invaluable, allowing us to surpass everything we achieved in previous years this past January 2026.

What a timely moment to receive and read this article from SSUSA.

It is inspiring to know that in 10 or 14 years, many of these children who benefited from these donations will be lifting the World Baseball Classic trophy, representing their countries.

And we were there, contributing our small grain of sand to support them.

Today, Venezuela celebrates the title.

Tomorrow, it will be another nation.

Many of us will continue to back these young talents, helping them become men of character who are committed to the development of their nations.
