Hampton Roads Lady Canes 10U is a competitive, developmental focused fastpitch softball team based out of York County, Va.

We compete in tournaments throughout Virginia and Northeast North Carolina to challenge ourselves against top competition.

After severe weather forced Saturday’s games to be postponed, our girls were faced with a marathon on Sunday.

Four games. One day. Very little time to recover.

And these girls BATTLED. 💪🔥

We opened the day at Battle at the Creek with an 11-1 victory over ES RipTide 10U, followed by an 8-2 loss to Lady Rangers 10U. The girls bounced right back with another 11-1 victory over ES RipTide, earning their way into the semi-final.

After already playing three games, the girls battled a well-rested Bay River Rumble team that had yet to play that day. We ultimately fell just short 3-1, but our girls competed until the final pitch and kept themselves in position to win despite being completely spent.

🔥 AT THE PLATE

The girls finished the tournament hitting .351 as a team, collecting 20 hits, 27 walks and 22 stolen bases, while scoring 25 runs across four games.

⭐ Elena Brantley — .714 AVG, 5 hits, 5 RBI, 2 triples, 2.000 OPS. Elena was locked in all tournament, including going 2-for-2 with 3 RBI in Game 1 and 2-for-2 again in Game 3.

⭐ Hadley Kitchens — .667 AVG, 4 hits, 1 RBI, 4 runs scored and 6 stolen bases. She also went 2-for-2 with an RBI in the final game and consistently put pressure on opposing defenses.

⭐ Cam Reynolds — .500 AVG, 4 hits, 3 RBI and 5 stolen bases, providing consistent production and pressure on the bases.

⭐ Emerson Hackney — .500 AVG, 3 hits and 5 runs scored, while contributing heavily in the circle as well.

⭐ Leah Perkins — 4 RBI, including a 2-run triple in Game 3.

⭐ Baylee Jordan — 5 stolen bases, 5 runs scored and 4 walks, continuing to provide offensive and baserunning pressure throughout the day.

⭐ Mira Makula — 6 walks, showing tremendous plate discipline and helping extend innings.

As a team, the girls showed a solid approach at the plate, drawing 12 walks in Game 1, 10 walks in Game 3 and 5 more in the final game.

🥎 IN THE CIRCLE

Our pitching staff was asked to handle an enormous workload, and they answered the challenge.

🔥 Ainsley Matthews — 6⅔ innings, 16 strikeouts and a 2.70 ERA, including an incredible 10-strikeout performance in the final game while allowing just 3 runs in her first complete game with the Lady Canes.

🔥 Emerson Hackney — 5 innings, 13 strikeouts and a 1.20 ERA, allowing just one earned run overall. In Game 3, she allowed just one run over three innings while striking out seven for her personal best first complete game win.

🔥 Baylee Jordan — 4 innings and 7 strikeouts against Lady Rangers, battling through her appearance in the circle.

Throughout the day our pitching staff recorded 36 strikeouts.

That is a LOT of innings, a LOT of strikeouts and a LOT of pressure for a 10U pitching staff in a single day. 👏🔥

🥎¡LATE POST ALERT!🥎

Simply put, the girls had a tough run this past weekend at PG's Queens of the Coast. Lots of lessons learned but still much to be proud of. While we didn't quite get the results we wanted these girls battled together through a slew of quality teams, many who were playing in their final weekend of 10u eligibility.

However we did some solid individual contributions throughout the weekend:

🌀 Adalynn Miller had a strong weekend at the plate, showing discipline, collecting multiple hits and driving in multiple runs, while also leading the team from the circle in Innings Pitched and Ks.

🌀 Cam Reynolds showed great plate discipline with multiple walks and came through with an RBI in our comeback effort against Vipers and led the team in Stolen Bases through the tournament.

🌀 Ainsley Matthews came up big in the circle and at the plate with a 2-run single and added two RBI walks in our 10-8 battle with the Vipers.

🌀 Baylee Jordan contributed both offensively and in the circle, showing the versatility and willingness to do whatever the team needed.

🌀 Madelyn Slaughter continued to find ways to contribute offensively, collecting hits in multiple games

And a HUGE thank you goes out to Adalynn for stepping in as our guest pitcher and 1B/3B, battling alongside the Lady Canes through all 5 games this weekend! We truly appreciate her toughness, effort, and willingness to compete with our girls wish her the absolute best as she continues into 12u. 🩷💙

There’s plenty for us to clean up, but there is also A LOT to build on. Weekends like this are about learning, growing, and becoming better teammates.

For now.. it's on to Little Creek National for Battle at the Creek!!!
