We start at 7:47am. The exact moment the first plane hit.

Second year doing this. It’s not new anymore. It’s ours now.

Weighted pack or not, that’s on you. Loaner rucks available if you need one.

If you’re not near Wimberley, go do something hard. Find a staircase. A hill. Anything. Just make it hard enough to remember.

25 years ago firefighters climbed 110 stories carrying 80 pounds of gear. Some never came back down.

Friday we climb Old Baldy ten times. Same stairs. Carry a weighted pack, or don’t. That’s on you. We start at 7:47am, the same moment the first plane hit.

This isn’t a workout. It’s how we remember the sacrifices others have made, with our bodies, not just our minds.

Second year doing this. It’s a tradition now.

Comanche Moon Ruck. One helluva good time.

We kicked off with a good ol’ Texas turd floater, the kind of rain that comes down fast and hard enough to make the turds float away. Turns out we didn’t need it. There weren’t any turds in this team. We had nothing but a solid crew of ruckers who showed up ready to kick some ass.

13 miles under a full Comanche moon. Single track, backroads, river crossings. Had a constable pull over just to give us fist bumps. Climbed our way up to Old Baldy for a view over the Wimberley Valley that made every step worth it.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and got it done. Couldn’t ask for a better tribe.

Down pour right from the get go.

I thought the rain would cut the fat. Thought some people wouldn’t show.

There wasn’t any fat to cut.
Everyone showed up.
In-person, out there in the wet grass.

And for the first time, we opened it up virtual, and it went all over the world.

Solo and in crews, different time zones, same 13 miles, held to the same standard with nobody around to keep them honest but themselves.

That’s the tribe. Proud of every one of you. Grateful you were out there.

More virtual events and challenges are on the way.

Tonight is the night.
Comanche Moon Ruck

Packs loaded. Course is set.
I’m ready. And that readiness didn’t happen tonight, it got built in the weeks that led here.

I won’t be out there by myself. None of us will. It’s a line of people, each one carrying their own weight, moving together anyway.

That’s what brotherhood is.
Showing up next to somebody else carrying yours while they carry theirs.

Just waiting on the moon now.
When it’s up we move.

Sometimes the trail tries to bite back.

Found this one in the middle of a night training session, gravel road, headlamp only. No panic. No detour. Just handled it and kept moving.

That’s the part of this work nobody sees in the highlight reel. It’s not always miles and mindset quotes. Sometimes it’s a rattlesnake at your feet and you deal with it anyway.

Nature doesn’t care about your training plan. Handle it and go.

Can’t make it to Wimberley? You don’t need to. You can do it virtually too.

Same 13 miles. Same weight. Same standard, wherever you are. Men carry 20 pounds plus gear. Women carry 10 pounds plus gear. No shortcuts. No excuses.

Finish it and earn the Comanche Moon Ruck patch.

Do it on August 28th, or within 48 hours if life gets in the way. Email proof to [email protected] to claim your patch.

In-person meets in Wimberley, TX. Along the river, through town, and up Mount Baldy. 8pm start. In-person finishers also get the official event shirt too.
