Sports in Kansas Football Player to Watch: Spencer Crumrine, Valley Center, Jr. WR, 5-9, 165 lbs
Spencer Crumrine has established himself as one of the top returning receivers in Class 5A heading into his junior season. The Valley Center standout earned S*K first-team All-State Non-Senior honors in 2025 after also receiving S*K second-team all-state recognition at wide receiver. A two-time first-team all-league selection, Crumrine followed up a 608-yard freshman campaign with 50 receptions for 735 yards and seven touchdowns as a sophomore, giving him 81 career catches for 1,343 yards and 15 touchdowns heading into his junior season.
Valley Center returns several talented playmakers, including fellow receiver RayJ Logan, as the team looks to improve on last season's 4-5 record. Crumrine's speed and big-play ability will once again make him one of the focal points of the offense. “I’m excited for what this group has to offer, with the end goal of a deep playoff run,” he told S*K.

Sports in Kansas Football Player to Watch: Micah Martin, Valley Center, Sr. K, 5-11, 175 lbs
Consistency has made Micah Martin one of the top specialists in Kansas heading into the 2026 season. The Valley Center (5A) senior earned S*K first-team All-State Non-Senior honors and S*K all-state honorable mention after a strong junior campaign in which he connected on all five of his field goal attempts, went 20-of-24 on extra points and drilled a season-long 48-yard field goal.
Valley Center returns several key contributors, including Spencer Crumrine, Rayj Logan and Evan Chavez, as the Hornets look to take a step forward this fall. Martin will once again play an important role in helping flip field position and capitalize on scoring opportunities. “I’m very excited to see what this team can do. Making a deep run in the playoffs is the ultimate goal but we need to set ourselves up for success by playing good in the regular season,” he told S*K.
Away from football, Martin also excels on the soccer field and athletic ability runs in the family. His older brother played Division I soccer at UMKC.
