Even when you’re working on a dummy, the goal is more than just landing strikes. This drill focuses on combining clean punches with purposeful footwork, moving in and out of range, staying balanced, and resetting your position after each combination.

The hands deliver the strike, but the feet put you in the right place to land it 👊🏼

🥊 It’s not about how fast you can go. It’s about how well you can flow.

Working in the pocket helps develop timing, rhythm, and confidence at close range. The goal isn’t to hurt your training partner. It’s controlled striking, staying relaxed, and learning how to move naturally from one technique into the next.

Boom. Boom. Boom. Stay controlled, stay confident, and keep the combination moving 👊🏼

🥊 Protect yourself before you throw the next strike.

Keeping your hands up and protecting your face is one of the most important habits in striking. A strong guard helps absorb or redirect incoming shots while keeping you in position to respond with your own attack.

The goal is to make that protection automatic. Hands up, eyes forward, ready for what comes next 👊🏼

One technique every martial artist should continue developing is learning how to control their center of gravity. A strong base makes it harder to be pushed, pulled, or taken off balance while giving you a better position to react.
