Summer heat puts outdoor crews at real risk. βοΈ
Construction teams, landscapers and road crews spend hours in the sun, which is why First Aid Canada suggests one easy upgrade for the warmer months: pack extra instant cold packs. They are inexpensive, simple to store and handy for heat-related illness, swelling, strains and any situation where cooling helps.
It's also a good time to make sure your team knows how to respond when heat takes a serious turn. Our Intermediate Training covers how to treat heat stroke and heat exhaustion, so your crew can act quickly and confidently when it matters most.
While reviewing summer procedures, it's also worth confirming water access, shade, and the expiry dates inside every kit. A few small adjustments now can keep a team safer all season. π§

Does a boat need a first aid kit? π€
The short answer is yes, and in many cases, it's actually required depending on the type and size of vessel. Transport Canada outlines first aid kit requirements for certain boats, especially those used commercially or for passengers.
But beyond regulations, the real recommendation is simple. Every boat should have a basic first aid kit on board, even if it is just for pleasure use.
Accidents on the water can happen fast, and help is not always close by. Having the right supplies ready means small injuries stay small and serious situations can be managed until help arrives.
Marine first aid kits are designed specifically for boating environments, with supplies suited for cuts, burns, and water-related incidents.

Not all first aid training is the same, and choosing the right course depends on what your workplace actually needs.
Emergency First Aid is the fast, practical option for basic workplace requirements, focused on the most common situations you are likely to face on the job. Standard First Aid goes deeper, covering a wider range of injuries and emergencies with more hands-on practice and scenario-based training.
CPR courses are available on their own or combined with first aid certification, with different levels depending on age groups and workplace requirements, including CPR A, C, and HCP.
Whether you need basic compliance or a more comprehensive certification for higher-risk environments, there is a course designed to match it.

Coordinating first aid training for hundreds of students across multiple schools can get complicated fast.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board needed Grade 11 and 12 SHSM students to complete their required Standard First Aid + CPR-C certification, but scheduling, instructor availability, student volume, and on-site logistics made it a challenge.
We helped simplify the process by coordinating flexible training dates, providing on-site instruction, and keeping pricing and terms clear from the start.
The result: less admin stress for staff and students who left certified, confident, and better prepared to respond when it matters.
Need training for a large group or multiple locations? We can help make it easier.

Stroke recognition does not need to be complicated. It just needs to be FAST β€οΈπ
Face. Check for drooping or uneven expression.
Arms. See if both can be raised evenly.
Speech. Listen for slurring or confusion.
Time. Call 911 immediately if you notice any of these signs.
The faster the response, the better the outcome. FAST turns uncertainty into action when it matters most.

Quick reminder to check the safety gear in your work vehicles ππ»π
It's easy for things like AEDs and first aid kits to get tossed into a truck and slowly become something you stop thinking about.
They sit through hot summers, freezing winters, and constant job site travel, and over time they can get overlooked without anyone really noticing.
These are still pieces of life saving equipment, and they only help if they are actually ready to go when needed.
Taking a few minutes to check what is sitting in your vehicles can make a real difference down the line.
